I've lived in these apts for a year and a half

Pros- for almost the entire time I never saw a roach, not unitil about a month ago. It finally rained after a long dry spell and I had an encounter with two mid-size roaches (I really hate roaches and wouldn't have tolerated living someplace that had a problem), I reported it and they sprayed two days later. I did have an ant problem twice, both times I complained and it was quickly addressed. My dishwasher leaked a few months after I moved in and it was replaced with a brand new one. They replaced the piping in all the buildings which meant big holes cut into walls and tons of workers in and out of my apt for several days, but I was highly impressed with how smooth it went and when they were done I could barely tell they had ever been there. The management office is always very nice.
Cons: here's the rub. They got me in on a special, so when my year was up they sent me a notice, they were raising me to regular rate, that meant a $130 increase. I had a friend living in same size apt there and he was now paying almost $200 less than me. I have talked to many apt managers and they all say that is suicide if you want renters to renew. After a discussion with the leasing office they compromised, but I only resigned because I didn't want to move at that time of year. other than that my big complaint is the filthy stairs and breezeways. Mine are so filthy and I am tired of complaining about it and being told they are on the list to get pressure washed, that must be a long list, a year and a half and they have only gotten worse. I am embarrassed for my friends to walk up to visit me. Several tenants in my building leave trash piled up on their porches for weeks at a time and these porches are on the front where you have to pass by as you get to and from your apt. It stinks and it looks nasty. And there is no way to wash the porches so after awhile they just look like parking lots at bars.
I am ready to move but overall I can't give them less than a medium score.
