The Dark at Vineridge

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2009

My wife and I moved into the Vineridge Apartments in 2006 and were immediately impressed by the spacious living space of our 3 bedroom apartment. For the first year and a half or so, the neighborhood was great. The kids were nice, neighbors were nice, and every Saturday nearly all the tenants would gather down by the pool. Shortly after however, there seemed to be a large turn-over. This brought in new tenants who were the worst we have ever seen. Rude kids who vandalize the property, noisy neighbors, and dog owners who walk their dogs and refuse to pick up their waste. As far as our apartment, we've had a severe ant and roach infestation that constantly has us throwing away 100's of dollars worth of food in our pantries. We've also called the office several times regarding our balcony railing falling apart, no hot water in the master bathroom, and water damage from a busted water hose on the 3rd floor that left holes in our ceiling(it took maintenance almost 4 months to fix these holes). It seems like every time we call to see when maintenance will be over to fix the issues, management plays dumb and acts like we've never reported anything. The grounds are very nice towards the front of the complex, but the gates have only worked twice since we've lived there. And the kicker is that management still continues to tell new residents that the gates will be operational in about three months(which was the same explanation we received when we first moved in). That's another thing...management! As much as I was paying for our apartment I would expect some decency. Instead they like to talk down to you...especially when you're reporting a problem or giving your 60 day notice. Now originally we only wanted to stay for one year, but because of past financial situations we were unable to save enough to relocate. Because of this, we ended up having to stay for three years dealing with the same unresolved problems. I know...it's nobody's fault but our own for staying so long, but since we remained, my wife and I kept up our hope that eventually things would turn around. Sadly they never did. It seems that everyone has mixed reviews on this place, so check it out if you want. My only recommendation would be not to stay any longer than one year.
