Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2006
I originally wrote the review below some weeks ago, and have since seen some improvements. So, to be fair, I am keeping my original review posted below, but including this update: The gate is now working on a consistent basis. Yay! The dryers, most of them have been fixed (although one of the washers ate my quarters the other day). This is a huge improvement from earlier. Parking is adequate in my area of the complex, and my neighbors seem to be nice and quiet. I have seen some efforts made on the upkeep over the last two weeks as well. I should also say, some of the management team have been really nice, while others still need customer service lessons. Overall though, maybe the new management is catching up' The jury is still out on that, but I'm pleased with some of the recent changes I'm seeing.
My original review:
This complex has had a good rep over the years, but seems to be going downhill. The recent management fired much of the maintenance staff and it shows in the upkeep of the place (things not being kept up as they use to be). When I first moved here they kept the gate closed, now it is always open. I had to call the fire department one night when a neighboring apartment's fire alarm kept going off for an extended period of time. I also tried to call the main office or maintenance even though it was after hours but there was no response and the fire department had to kick in the door. When I went to talk to the office about there being a lack of an emergency number they responded by saying they do have one and it comes on an after hours recording. When I stated that a recording never came on, even after place two calls to two numbers for the main office and letting it ring, they defended the fact that it was on! Unbelievable. I'm the one who called, I would know if there had been an answer. Just BAD customer service. I will say some of the staff are nice in demeanor though. One more con... I live in a studio and the electric cost is through the roof for such a tiny place (not a central A/C). I barely paid more for an apartment down the road that was MORE than twice this size when I had a roommate. There are worse places to live, but if you are looking for excellence, then there are also better places not that far away. Oh and, I am reporting my rent to be $581 (500 square foot studio with a parking lot view) which is hard to find in this area (which is why I rented here), but from what I understand as soon as my lease is up that is going up. Two positives - the parking is ample, at least where I am, although I wouldn't say its exactly "well lit," and overall its been pretty quiet, the walls seem to be able to contain noise well.
