I have lived at Barrington for only 8 months. The list of reasons not to live here are endless. First I got a lab but had to pay $500 to keep at my apartment. The problem is that the $500 doesn't cover carpet so they will be taking money from my $1,000 deposit I had to put down since I had never rented before which I don't understand because my credit was a 700. Anyways as I continued to live here my water bill was not coming in so I addressed it to the staff and they told me the reason for it was because they were covering the charges because of a new system they were doing. About 4 months went by and then I received a bill from the water company saying I owed $80. I was outraged because i live in a studio and there is no way I consumed that much water. So I spoke with the assistant property manager and he told me not to worry about it because they were getting ready to change into a new system where water was going to be a flat rate of $10 a month. What a liar he was because then the next month I received another bill for an additional $50 and so I called NES the water company. The representative told me that I was having to pay all of the remaining balance from when I moved in because the apartment complex was not covering the costs. After that phone call I spoke with the property manager once more and he told me now I have to pay the remaining balance of water before they would move to the system of a flat rate of $10 a month. So then I was outraged because I did not understand why I was having to pay for the mistake that Barrington made. So then I called NES to find out how much of the remaining balance I still owed. NES could not tell me they said I needed to talk to the property manager. I called and asked and did not receive a phone call for weeks. Now I find out that the assistant property and property manager quit. No one can tell me a balance. I called NES and asked to speak with the supervisor and instead I get a voice mail. I have not received a phone call back from anyone. I guess for the time being no one is running the apartment complex. Furthermore, the gates have not worked in months and this suppose to be a gated complex and some residents are having problems with people breaking into there cars. The breaking of the cars is not the first time either. Last time you could hear the police helicopter flying over because they were doing a sting right at the complex. Now I am having problems with my toilet and they told me that if they can not solve my problem by using the snake to fix it and are forced to remove the toilet to find the problem they will be charging me for the new toilet. As I have previously worked for the Home Depot before I know a little something something. If there is a plumbing problem with the pipe what does it have to do with replacing it with a brand new toilet. It is the bottom of the toilet where the ring and pipe attach that is the where it is jammed not the toilet itself. I am so angry at this place that I refuse to resign. Please don't be fooled by the beautiful landscaping in the front like I was as this place is poorly managed. You'll regret moving here because of the beautiful landscape. Oh and by the way don't be fooled by the lake it sits on. You are not allowed to fish or canoe. All the canoes by the lake are chained up. It is an eye sore to see. Oh and doing laundry is a nightmare. Its hard to find a dryer and washer that works. I gave up washing close there so I haul my dirty laundry and do it at my parents house.
