Don't move in here, first off no matter what specials they are offering I've lived here almost five years and I guarantee you can expect a huge increase after you first year. Before Zom took over the office was nice and worked with residents to give them a good renewal price and encouraged residents staying for over a year. I'm not stupid I understand rent must go up but since being sold the new owners are just out to make money. They don't care about the residents that have lived here long term; that is why so many of us have moved out and they have these great specials to offer. They say they appreciate their residents but they only care about getting the rent for your apartment. They figure if you don't like it you can leave... what a way to run a business.
Second, the office staff is horrible with a capital "H". They are incompetent and not willing to help solve problems. They all have the same attitude that it's just a job but what about the people that pay to live there. They say they will take care of something and it never gets done, paperwork never comes to you, packages for you are delivered to the office and you get no notification.
I used to be an apartment complex leasing manager for a property over in the U.C.F. area for a year and half. I can tell you from personal experience that Barrington's management and leasing staff needs to all be let go. They do not follow procedure, don't care about the residents, and are not proactive with major complex issues. If they had been owned by Zom when looked at the place I wouldn't have never signed a lease.
Yes the property has great grounds, nice features and cool activities but honestly what does that all matter if the residents really hate it there. I don't care about the activities- get some new gym equipment, fix the damn gate, hire a quality management staff, fix the trash problem; stuff that really matter to people paying good money to live there. Many of us can't move so easily and I hate feeling like I'm being ripped off on a daily bases.
PLEASE don't move here!

I have lived here for 18 years and I can honestly say that I would not live any place else. True, the rents have escalated, but they have done so every place else, too. TRY and find an apartment in or around Orlando for less, with the same amenities and the size of the rooms. The staff has been exceptional and believe me, having been going through very difficult times, I don't think any other complex would be quite as understanding or helpful. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS COMPLEX TO ANYONE AND EVERYONE!

I moved in to Barrington at Mirror Lake apartments in November of 2006 and was elated to move out once my lease was up in November of 2007. I had nothing but major problems the entire time I lived there, beginning with the sheer incompetency of the office staff. First and foremost, you know how many times during my one year stay they tried to get me to 're-sign my lease due to mistakes?' Five times. FIVE TIMES. Apparently these people haven't a clue that a lease is a legal, binding document, and whatever 'mistakes' the office staff makes--they have to eat it. The last time I refused to re-sign my original lease I was threatened by the office manager, saying she would show up at my door at 10PM if she had to to make sure I re-signed. Ridiculous! (Note: She never did show up at 10PM, and they never did get me to re-sign the lease). Oh, and did I mention that the staff (the ENTIRE staff) had changed three times in the year that I resided at Barrington? Yup. No wonder they have so many problems with office management--no one stayed on the payroll long enough to actually learn how to do things correctly around there. Second, they have a major rat and roach infestation. After living there for six months with no pest issues whatsoever, I started noticing a couple roaches here and there. Living alone and being somewhat obesessive compulsive when it comes to cleaning and keeping my living quarters in order, I was surprised. After asking the apartment office to come spray for pests I continued to have problems and after finding a rat outside my door one evening I contracted an outside pest control service myself. They searched my apartment and noted that I kept it very clean and did not find any evidence that the roach infestation began in my apartment but after seeing the conditions of the building indoors and outdoors, noted that the entire apartment building was probably infested and the only reason I didn't have MORE issues with roaches and such was that I cleaned so often and thoroughly. They said that the problem most likely stemmed from a couple of the neighboring apartments not being kept up properly, etc. Not surprising, seeing as my neighbors were total white trash losers that liked to play softball in the grassy areas with empty beer cans. Real classy, huh? Maintenance is a joke. One time my shower broke and it took them almost a month to come out and fix it. Good thing I enjoy taking bubble baths. Oh, but don't be surprised if you call maintenance and return home later that evening to find out that not only did they fix your issue, but they helped themselves to one of your Yuengling's and left the empty bottle on the counter. And Good Lord...I still remember the time I came home from work one evening to find a massive hole in my living room wall (big enough I could fit half my body in it)...turns out a pipe had busted in the wall and they couldn't get the plumber to come out and fix it and it was leaking into my downstairs neighbor's apartment so they attempted to fix it themselves. Not only did they leave a ginormous hole in my wall, but the plumber wasn't going to be able to make it out to fix it for another six days. SIX days. SIX days of the pipe leaking, carpet being ruined, and who knows what ended up happening to the apartment downstairs. I never asked the neighbor, I tried to avoid her as much as possible after she told me she liked to smoke crack from time to time. Swanky. All in all, a total motherfreaking horrific experience. Living here was nothing but a big source of stress to me, and am so relieved to currently reside in an apartment complex with friendly, competent staff, no pest issues, no maintenance issues, and very quiet/peaceful grounds.
