The Absolute Worst!

Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2002
I was relocated to South Florida and not knowing that most of the older buildings on the beach were mold infested, I took a chance on the Harbour House. The lobby looked upscale and the suites seemed large enough. Upon closer inspection, the walls were painted to conceal the water leaks, and mold. The HVAC system was being renovated (which the management failed to tell me) only indicating that the building was undergoing some cosmetic redecorating! Ha!
After a few months, and a few conversations with other residents, I came to realize the full extent of the problems facing this aging building by the sea. Everyone from Hollywood to Homestead had heard of the mold problems that this building harboured. I got my things together and hot footed it out of there as I had been dealing with sneezing and watery/itchy eyes and difficulty breathing with no real answers from the management and staff.
Months later, and after I was settled in another apartment home and breathing much easier, I learned that everyone who had lived in the building during the past 2 years was able to take part in a class action lawsuit brought against the Harbour House and its owners, Charles E. Smith Properties. My guess is that the folks at Charles E. Smith didn?t even know the extent of the problems the building faced and probably had to sell off a few of its other properties just to pay for the remediation.
My advice - DO NOT LIVE HERE or at its sister community, Oceanview, in Sunny Isles. BAD, BAD, BAD!
