I lived at Marina Bay before living here and I wrote a review of that place. Go search for that and see how dreadful things can be.
Here at Boynton Bay there is a large club house where you could have fifty or more people at a time for a birthday party (or whatever). There's a pool table, several computers, a new large screen TV, several tables for whatever you want to do. They serve FREE meals five days a week, FREE continental breakfasts and there is usually FREE bread available. On most days there is something going on either at the club house or at the pool. I still work so i don't participate in much yet, but I see a lot who do. Management seems to try to keep something going on for us regularly.
The pool area is always clean and neat with all new deck furniture, and the water is clean and clear. The hot tub is usually actually hot, but not always.
The grounds are kept up well and the parking is near perfect. Anything less than five stars for parking shows me that person is either ignorant or just bitter about something else. We have parking spaces near each unit plus plenty of room for any guests you may have. The entrances to each unit are right off the parking lot, so you car is never out of sight - which I especially like for security.
This community is gated and yes the gates get broken once in a while. They seem to get them fixed right away though. Management can't help it if someone breaks a gate.
The area around us - outside the walls and fences - is pretty much is bad. I hear loud music (RAP - UGH!) and loud cars sometimes. But not often. Besides, management can't control that either. A call to the police would help - but I haven't done that because it isn't really that bad. I was well aware of the fact this community was built within a ghetto when I first moved in, so I have no real complaint in any event.
The laundry now has all new machines (October 2008). Unfortunately, with the new machines comes a slightly higher price. The laundry room is neat and clean any time I go there.
There were a few things that needed fixed in my apartment when I first moved in. They were all repaired in a timely manner. They put in a new ceiling fan and light, a new thermostat and made sure the air conditioner worked properly.
The layout of the rooms is quite good. Everyone who visits has good things to say about my place. I have quite a large walk-in closet. The kitchen is laid out well and easy to take care of, with a large pass-thru to the dinette table. There's so much storage I have several cupboards that are empty - because i don't need them!
Others have written complaints in here about the office staff. Until recently, I've had no problems.
Update 10-22-2008: Since the management change and firing of Paige who worked there, they seem colder and less interested in being helpful any time I go there. For example, I went there carrying my 9 pound yorkie - as I have done nearly every time I went there since living here. I was asked, "You know you aren't allowed in here with a dog don't you' And you can't take him in the club house either." I explained that I did not know that and the dog was always welcomed in the past; but now that I know I'll leave him home. There are, of course, no signs and nothing was ever said to me before.
NOTE to management: It's the little things in life that piss people off the most.
As for noises: I hear a door close in my building now and then and I can hear voices sometimes as well. This is not really a problem, and if it were, I'd tell the people making the noises and that would end it.
Not everybody picks up after their pets; so, you must walk carefully. I walk around the place a time or two every day for exercise and it is well lit and always safe. Stay on the sidewalks and avoid the dog poo!
NOTE to the dog owners: Pick it up!
Someone complained that the owner drives an expensive car' Give me a break. Go make more money if you want a better car. Whatever they drive has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with this place. Nothing!
The entire community has been renovated. I have all new hurricane resistant windows, new A/C unit including air handler, new water heater, new kitchen sink and fixtures, new bathroom sink fixtures, new stove, new fridge and new dishwasher. The outside has been redesigned and modified and painted. Any and all sidewalk cracks have been re-poured and fixed, the entire complex has been re-fenced plus an anti-ghetto concrete wall has been built around much of the complex. The security gate is re-modeled and may have 24 hour security when the renovations are finished.

The beat goes on. It just keeps getting better and better. Metal roofs on the main buildings - look great. Entrance gates are great. Water falls built near entrance now and lookin' good. I renewed my lease and rent went up five dollars a month. Yes, I said FIVE. I looked at the negative responses and can't help but wonder what on earth is wrong with those people? This place is great and either those people are idiots or employed by a competitor!
