Having lived there for 3 years, here is my synopsis:

+ Government subsidised housing. I'm living next to a family of 6 who is paying 40% less than me per month for the same apartment.

+ Shoddy workmanship in the apartment. Baseboards have large cracks because the property is slowly sinking into the canal. I live on an end and the common area that is next to my apartment is a full 6 inches lower than when I moved in (I'm measuring the sewer in the middle on the property). I can also smell my neighbor's cooking from the lack on insulation in the walls. It has gotten into everything.

+ Convenient access to highway. One of the things they do not tell you when getting a lease is that directly east of 95 on BBB is a neighborhood with statistically the highest crime rate in Boynton Beach. On June 17, 1999 we had 22 cars broken into, 1 was stolen. Shots were fired trying to apprehend the criminals. The good news is that you can be on 95 (or the criminal driving your car) in less than a minute.

+ Buildings exterior. Only the buildings close to the entrances have been painted in the 3 years I have been there. The roofs have never been painted.

+ Trees. I have been told that the trees bordering the apartments tend to give the tenants that live on the 2nd floor, rat problems. They prune about once a year. I have never heard the rats in the attic, only have witnessed them in the trees.

+ Appliances. Typical. All I know is that the installation of my air conditioner says on it, 1989.

+ Parking. Get home early. If someone is having friends over they will take the tenant spaces and you will park a long ways away from your apartment (see convenient access to highway)

+ Security. When I was burglarized a few months ago the cop couldn't recommend anything new to me (blinds were closed, pins in the doors, beware of dog signs in the windows, window locks).

+ Car wash area. Was shut down when the drought conditions were activated 8 months ago. That doesn't stop them from watering every night, but the sprinklers are not aimed at the grass but at the cars in the parking lot.
