I've been living at the Carlton Arms for the past 18 months, and it's getting to the point where I'm considering breaking my lease. The management staff is non-caring when you have a problem, but very friendly when you're giving them your rent check. The maintenance staff doesn't know what the heck they're doing most of the time. My freezer stopped working at one point and everything inside it thawed within 24 hours. The maintenance guy tried to tell me that was normal. Huh' Everything in the freezer spoiling is normal' A freezer that can't get cold enough to make ice cubes is normal' Then the air conditioner problems started. A different maintenance guy tried to tell me (after refilling the refrigerant on 4 different occasions without diagnosing the cause of the problem) that air conditioners can only cool to ten degrees below outside temperature. Huh' Double huh' This is Florida! What would be the point of an air conditioner if it could only cool to 85 degrees in the summer' The whole bunch is full of crap. The grounds are nice (if you can get used to ant infestations everywhere), but the people are what make this place uninhabitable. If you're desperate for a short-term solution, you might consider the Carlton Arms in Bradenton. Otherwise, I'd recommend you keep looking...
