If I could turn back time, I would have never troubled myself with this terrible place

Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2003
When we went to apply for an apartment, they told us that we had to get a two bedroom because of the baby on the way. (I was pregnant) We were told that if we got a one bedroom, we would be required to move into a 2, and sign a new lease when the baby was born. Needless to say, the baby ended up in the room with us, and the extra bedroom we were paying for was useless.
We had lived in an apartment that was just on the corner of an entrance to the complex with no speedbumps. Cars would speed in during the day risking hitting pedestrians (or kids) around the corner.
Cars with bass booming late at night.
We felt no security walking in the complex at night or early morning. The lights on the buildings would go off just as you walked out into the parking lot. A letter was sent to all tenants when a crime happend, but management always reminded you that it was your responsibility for your own safety, and they could not be held liable if something happend to you in the complex. (Well, they could've at least fixed the lights in the parking lot!)
Management did not try to help us with neighbors upstairs that let their two year old run back and forth with the dog for hours EVERY evening starting at 5PM and lasting until 12 or 1AM sometimes! The ladies at the main office told me it was us living on the bottom floor, basically our fault for taking a bottom floor. They said that they spoke to the neighbors to tell them to stop, but it only stopped when they decided to move out! (We had to call the office over 16 times!)The neighbors that moved in after them were two bachlors with a Fussball table, and they would play loud music and the pounding of the table could be heard into late late hours of the night, always waking our newborn daughter. Again, MANY complaints were made, and no resolve. We asked to be let out of our lease, and were told that we could sign a new lease for an upstairs apt, or be let out of our lease 2 months early-which was 4 months away! We declined both options, but continued to complain. (We just wanted out legally, we weren't happy, we wanted to feel safe and secure in our home!) I started to call the police dept. once I figured out that management wasn't going to help us, and after a couple of reports, the neighbors complained to the office about us calling the police on them all the time. The office called us and asked us if we still wanted out. (I guess we got annoying with the police calls!) We said yes and left.
That wasn't the end!!! I paid a $300.00 deposit for my cat when we moved in. $150 was non-refundable, and I knew that. The other $150 was supposed to come back to us, but we got a statement in the mail that made no sense, but basically said they were keeping the $150.00 for repairs. (I was in our apt on the last night, pregnant, until 3AM cleaning the place until it was spotless! Carpets and all! Not a spot! The only repair was for some holes in the walls where nails were) I highly doubt spackle and paint for a couple of tiny nail holes could add up to $150.00!!!! Oh, did I also mention, that under Florida law, a landlord cannot keep a pet deposit unless the damages were made by the pet' (When did cats learn how to hammer a nail') I could still go after Sawgrass for the $150, but it'd be a waste of time. I'm just glad I'm done with Sawgrass Cove and the terrible employees. I've never had such terrible customer service in my life. I would not recommend this place to anyone!
