You get what you pay for

I was a resident of Sawgrass Cove for 2 years and will attempt to write a review of the complex that is as objective as possible, focusing on several areas.

Location: One of the best things Sawgrass has going for it. Located in an excellent neighborhood on the west side of Bradenton, within walking distance to stores, banks, restaurants, etc.

Exterior appearance: Fair. From a distance it??s a fairly attractive complex, but a closer examination reveals a lot of dirt on the exterior of the buildings and grounds that are OK, but could be nicer. You get the impression they don??t want to spend a lot of money on maintaining the grounds. Lawn sprinklers work sporadically, sometimes just gushing water out into the parking lot.

Interior appearance: Fair. These are older apartments and they definitely show some wear and tear. Some of the units need renovated, but again, you get the impression that the company does not want to spend the money.

Quietness: For us, really good. Fortunately, for the most part, we had good neighbors. We found that the complex usually acted pretty quickly against noisy or problem tenants.

Safety/Security: Never any major problems with crime that I was aware of; I always felt safe in walking around the complex any time of night or day.

Bugs: Lots of ants in the bathrooms and kitchen, and we were in 2nd floor units. We were clean freaks, but had a constant ant problem, even with having the exterminators out numerous times. Couldn??t even use the dishwasher because the inside of the dishwasher would be covered with ants the next day.

Maintenance: A lot of complaints on this site about lousy maintenance, but I found maintenance and response time to be really good.

Customer Service: Horrible. Office staff mostly young females with no customer service skills at all. The office staff is a joke.

Other: A nice feature of the complex is dog walking areas with doggie waste bags and receptacles. A major--and I mean major--problem when we first moved in was residents not picking up after their dogs, but other residents started reporting the guilty parties, and it ceased to become a problem.

Overall: Sawgrass Cove markets itself as a luxury apartment complex, but it??s not as nice as some other complexes I have lived in that do not call themselves luxury apartments. On the other hand, the apartment rents are slightly less than other luxury apartments on the west side of Bradenton, so you basically get what you pay for.
