My wife and I have lived here for 2 years and have fallen prey to false promises and countless problems with the amenities. The jacuzzi is constantly broken, the staff promised when we moved in (2 years ago) that they would pressure clean the breezways and staircases and they never did! There was a feeble attempt at BLEACHING small portions where wasps had made their nests but they are still in embarassing condition 2 years later. This is supposed to be a gated community but the gates have also been broken for 2 years! The staff have tried to repair them a couple times but they just keep breaking and several months go bye before another attempt at fixing them. This creates a major parking problem because anyone can drive into the complex. After 2 years we know almost every car that parks here and we always see the new tenants moving in so we know their cars as well, yet every night, especially weekends, there are so many guest cars parked in the tenant parking that we have to park a very good distance away from our apartment, usually in the guest parking area... The solution is you can rent a garage if available but you will have to pay a ridiculous $75 extra per month for an extremely small garage. The quality of the materials which the inside of the apartments are made of is also something to be concerned with. The drawers are weak and flimsy, the imitation tile is very low quality and constantly cracks and comes up. The water system has hot water but never really gets hot enough to do dishes in! The grounds keepers will wake you up at very early hours of the morning to the wonderful sound of lawnmowers, edge trimmers, and blowers, even on weekends. We had to buy our own washer and dryer in our unit because the laundry facility is also terrible. The washers do not clean on 1 cycle and the dryers seem as though they are set up to keep taking your quarters! They never get hot enough to dry your clothes unless you leave them in for hours! Many complexes do this as an additional source of income. We can't prove this to be the case, but it seems very suspicious never the less. The pool and jacuzzi area is constantly invaded by loud and bothersome teenagers and adults that do not even live here and do not have friends or family that live here. We know this because we have called on the courtesy officer a number of times at 2 a.m. to break up the late night antics of these people and we watched them leave the complex not go to their apartments. The problem is, the pool area is not locked so anyone can get in. These people are what we call apartment jumpers. They find any complex like ours and use the facilities at will, like they live here, until someone runs them off, which is sometimes never.. You may ask yourself why we are still here if there are all these problems, and believe me I could go on for ever with more problems! and I probably will at a later time, but for now I'll say this, the apartment complex as a whole has a lot of potential and for my wife and me it is a very convenient location and we simply have not wanted to go through the awful experience of moving again. However, we will most likely be moving when our lease expires because there are about 1500 new units almost completed at 3 brand brand new complexes just up the street from Sterling Palms Apartments which are offering better rates, nicer units, and great move in specials. This place really went "down-hill" instead of getting better. I would recommend that if you are going to pay the premium price for an apartment, you should look elsewhere for a complex a little newer and don't be afraid to ask questions of your leasing agent, it will pay off in the long run.
