1. Ask up front about the $75 "liability fee" - you have to pay $75 to the company if you don't have renters insurance. It's the last page on the lease, after you've already paid the deposit/rent and signed off on everything else (if you don't read the whole contract first).
2. Windows are cheap. You really can hear someone sneeze on the other side of the road if your quiet in your apartment. See #3.
3. I was woken up this morning @ 6:30 by the drycleaning van going to work!' The office doesn't open until 8:30.
4. Management, despite another recent change ealry this year, truly isn't concerned. They will nod their heads and smile, but have no authority to negotiate lease terms, or do more than manage the immediate staff.
5. Water bill - the water usage for an entire building divided by the number of occupants (officially) in the building. The bill is averaged out per building. So if I use 5 gallons and Bob across the hall uses 25, and we're the only two in the building, I pay for 15 gallons!
6. The washing machine leaked and slowly peeled off the linoleum in the kitchen. I had to point out the mold issue to them before the sprung to action.
