My wife and I have been living here since December of 2006, and it has been a living hell since.

A month before we moved in our leasing office called and said that the apartments won't be ready upon move in because there is a water problem in the apartment. We assured them that they were mistaken since we weren't supposed to move in for another month.

So my wife calls 2 weeks before we are set to arrive to see that our apartment is okay and that our apartment is ready for move-in. The people at the leasing office assured us that everything was great and ready for move-in. November 30th we receive a call (as in two days before we are to arrive) and tell us that the apartments aren't ready because there is a water problem.

By this point we are in shear desperation, because it cost us $3,000 just to get everything ready for our move down (since we were coming from Pennsylvania). We then had to battle with our apartment people to get our apartment fixed while we were in the process of driving down from PA. We literally arrived unsure as to how our apartment's condition was. And the whole time the only condolences we received from the leasing office was.."Oh, well if you don't think that you want to live here anymore, we'll let you break your lease.", or, "We can give you another apartment, but it won't be on the floor that you requested."

And to add more insult to injury..my wife who spent hours changing all of our addresses and ordering new checks with our new address and everything that's involved in a move, we're consoled by, we'll give you another apartment (and believe me, we already went through this got the wrong address before at a different apartment complex, and it was a pain to deal with, and the whole time we still had important letters and documents sent to the wrong address because of it). When my wife called before she changed addresses, she made sure to double check with the leasing office on whether our apartment could get Direct TV (since we were existing customers that loved it and wanted to keep our service) Well, Westbury apartments do not allow satellite dishes on the property (even on a pole) so you either have it in your apartment, or on your patio. Well we didn't want a patio, and we were fine with having the dish in the spare bedroom.

So the leasing office told us that, "Yes, your apartment is facing the south eastern sky and can get DirectTV service." Well, low and behold, we can't and we've had 3 different technicians out here to tell us so. So now we have to cancel our service (which by the way was set to expire in 1 month, but since the Westbury told us we could keep our dish we renewed the contract for 2 years so they would transfer our service). Well, we call Direct TV to tell them that we'll have to cancel the service and we'll have to pay the $160 cancellation fee, and we went to the Westbury to tell them that, basically, they're going to pay for it, but they said...."Well, you have to pay for it, and then you can submit a letter in writing and we'll decide whether we'll reimburse you or not."

So anyway (you thought that I was done, but the list is growing), we move in and our apartment was disgusting! The garbage disposal broken, AC wouldn't work, shower was disgusting (grout was yellow) I had to scrub it on my hands and knees, light bulbs were out, shower heads we replaced, closet door in spare bedroom was lying against the wall, no curtain rods to be found, and the spare room window sill looked like someone just poured muddy water all over it and left it there to ruin the wood, oh, and the baseboards in the bathroom and kitchen were all filthy like there was 4 inches of water in here, and the tile was gross and discolored. So I spent my whole first week here unpacking and scrubbing and cleaning my supposedly clean apartment.

We called the leasing office constantly and everytime they said they'd send somebody out, well it took 2 weeks before we even saw a single person, and that was because I saw one of the maintenance guys and pulled him aside and told him to fix it. And then they decided to do it. I don't know about you, but that was just infuriating, and with no AC in central Florida, you get the idea... And to top that all off, I finally go into the office and force a sitdown with the property manager, and they say, "Well, since your apartment was dirty and you spent the week cleaning it yourself, we'll let you get a free carpet cleaning during your stay on us." Yeah, thanks.

Well, now there's new management as of mid-Feb. and on Feb. 23rd they close the fitness center for some minor remodeling, and it's still closed!!!! It's flipping April 12th now! I walk by that thing everyday and it's been untouched for the last month! Why am I even paying to have it'

Also, on March 4th, there was a water problem and they had to fix a water pipe. Well that morning they turned off our water without any notice whatsoever. And I wake up on my one day off of work that week and find out that my brand new car that I just spent 3 hours the day before hand washing, is completely covered in mud!!! I go out there furious and the guy didn't even apologize. They say to me, "We knocked on all the doors to tell people to move their cars, and we waited there for 2 min. at each door"...yeah yeah, right jackass, my wife works from home and when they knocked on the door, she went out there that instant and there was nobody there, so how was she supposed to know what the knock was for'

So now there is minor paint damage from the sewage water that was on the hood of my car and I took pictures and went promptly into the office and showed the girl there what happened. I left my name, number, and apartment number so that someone could get back to me. Guess what, nobody's called. Not ONCE! I've been in that office a total of 6 times since March 4th and each time I leave my name and number and they say someone will get back to me. The second to last time I go in there, and the guy who did it to my car is in there and there's a lady sitting there as well, I tell her what happened and tell her I want to speak to the property manager. She tells me that if I leave my name and number she'll give it to her and she'll call me back...all the while the jerk-off who messed up my car is telling me that it's not his fault.

Another two weeks go by and I went back in today, April 12th. The property manager is there and guess what....it's the same lady I just talked to! The lady who told me that the property manager wasn't in, she's the flipping property manager!!!!! And all that happens is she avoids me by talking on the phone for a half hour and then has the douchebag who ruined my car give me the number of the water company guy who apparently did it to my car, but why exactly didn't they just do that in the first place' And why hasn't anybody even called me to question me on what happened' The people who work in the office could give a crap less about you. I wasn't even angry when I went into the office...I'm normally a calm, cool, and collect guy, but these people are infuriating.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!!!! Avoid this place at all costs! You will just find yourself angrier by the end.

Well, I agree with some things...like maintenance being slow to respond to non-emergency things. However, when my AC went out I called the emergency number in the office and the night maintenance guy was there with in a half hour. They practically rebuilt my AC unit and when that still didn't work they called in an outside guy for me.

As far as the water thing goes, I wasn't in the building effected and I still had notice it would be out. They left notes in the door. And I've seen other people with working Direct TV things...next time get the tech first is what I say.

oh really? you got a notice that the water would be out? that seems kind of impossible since I called the leasing office and they said they didn't know that the water would be turned off until the second that they did it. So you obviously are not an actual resident here or are working for the staff to try to make them look good. Also, I as well have seen people with dish-network dishes, not direcTV, but what you apparently didn't read is that we were moving from a different state and were trusting that the staff would know whether not our apartment could get satellite or not, because if not, then we would of switched apartements. But they looked up our apartment and said, yes our unit gets DirecTV. so that is why we continued our service. The whole reason for even explaining this in our review, is that the staff at the westbury does NOT care about their residents because they didn't even apologize for giving us wrong information. Now that it is a month later from my first review, I'll have you know there is a whole new list of things that the staff has not taken care of, and the property manager won't even talk to the residents here. So, if you want to be disrespected and live here, then fine. But you'll regret it when a problem comes up. Trust me.

I agree that the management here is horrible...lived at many apts before and this is by far the most inconsiderate management group. Just wait till it is time to get your security deposit back. I am being charged for a list of things I was specifically told not to worry about. I'm so glad to be outta there!
