It's a TEMPORARY place to live, nothing more

Just keep reminding yourself that this is only a TEMPORARY place to live, and you'll be much happier here. Honestly, you can do much worse in the surrounding area, so this is one of the better choices. They are trying to make some improvements, but it's kind of like when an ugly woman puts on too much makeup... you can't hide it.
