I moved here in july of 2004 and I still live here now. Overall this apartment complex pretty much sucks. I mean the building look pretty nice after the construction and of course the front office looks really nice, but thats not always what counts. The insides of the apartments are ok, but nothing special. I moved here when the construction was taking place so the noise was expected, but now that the construction is over and the apartments look nicer, the noise is still a problem. Mainly due to the constant noise of leaf blowers and lawnmowers. My schedule changes alot and sometime the only time I get to sleep is during the day, but im ALWAYS woken up by a leaf blower or lawn mower outside my window. Dont get me wrong, I appreciate the landscape maintience but they dont need to do it EVERY day and I would expect the landscaping to look extremely nice for all that work, but it still just looks normal. Ive watches those so called "Leaf blowers" and these guys just walk around blowing at nothing. I guess they get paid by the hour or something like an older review stated. Another problem here is that alot of people leave bags of trash outside their doors which doesnt bother me all that bad, cause most of the time its just put out there at night so the person can drop it off on their way to work in the morning, but I have been leaving the occasional bag of trash outside the 10 months ive lived here and just recently I got charged out of nowhere. The bag was outside maybe an hour, just stuck it there before I got in the shower right before I went to work. And of course I got a notice that I must pay an extra 25 dollars with my next rent. But then I look accross the street and see 5 or 6 other people with bags outside their places that are still there with no notice. Its almost like they just randomly charge. Of course now I dont do it anymore, but of course everyone else still does. I was here for all 3 hurricanes last year and the first hurricane our power was out for 6 or 7 days and the second ours was out for like 4 and the last one it was out for 3 days. But everyone else in the surrounding apartment complexes and houses had power way before us here. Its almost like we were last. Also the staff here is pretty ridiculous. Like just recently I ordered something on a thursday morning that I needed for work and overnighted it so i could get it by friday afternoon which was when i needed it for a saturday morning meeting, and the front office is suppose to close at 6 pm and of course UPS came while i was at work during the day and left my package with the front office which i didnt mind because they were SUPPOSE to stay open till 6 pm, but when I got home from work at 5 pm i went over to the office to see a nice and convient little letter that said "Office Closing today at 430pm". So of course I didnt have what I needed for the meeting. Its just crappy lazyness like that that happens with the office all the time. I know they put the note
on the door stating their closing time was changing, but I know it was just because it was a "friday". I shouldnt have to drive by and chech their hours everyday I need something from them. Anyhow I would give this place a 2 out of 10. I suggest renting a house, you might pay like 100 dollars more a month than here, but youll get so much more.
Unfortunatly ill be here another 6 months or so at least. I look forward to leaving.

Gosh, I was just checking back here to find the story about the lady who got her dog ran over. But not surprisingly, once again the office staff is on here looking to discredit REAL opinions about Newport Colony Apartments. Yes I am talking to you MOLECMAN, you are probably the same person who used the name "Sunshine-BabyGirl" get back to work and take care of your customers.
