The management is horrible. One month Newport Colony's bank cashed my check wrong. I wrote the correct amount on the check but there was an error on the bank's part and it was cashed for exactly $500 less then it was written for. Managment was not cooperative at all. They would not contact their bank to rectify the situation. They simply demanded more money, as if I was delinquent, and posted threats to evict.

They also charge you per month with garbage fees. Why should we pay garbage fees when we bring our trash to the dumpster and then it sits there and rots for weeks at a time' Not only that, but it sits at the entrance to the apartments overflowing before it's emptied. (eye sore)

We received our renewal notice and they increased our rent by apx $150 per month. It may seem like a good price at move in, but dont plan to pay that price the next year.

Then, after we moved out we scrubbed the carpets on hands and knees before leaving. The place looked spotless. We even called to see if they recommended us to rent a carpet cleaner instead. Management told us not to bother because they were going to either clean the carpet anyway, or depending on how old it was, they would replace it. A month later we recieve a certified letter stating they are charging us $450 to "replace carpets". We have disputed the retention of the security deposit but they have not cooperated and we have received letters from bill collectors.

The looks can be deceiving. Dont bother moving into a place that will ultimately be a pain in your ass!

Update: We paid the extra money they charged to replace the carpets, although we didnt agree with the charge. Even though it was disputed, Newport Colony still sent the account to a collections agency. It is now over one year later and Im being denied student loans because Newport Colony failed to notify the bill collectors that we had paid the account on time -BS!
