Well, it looks like it has been almost a year since the last posted review, so I thought I'd throw in my two cents. I can't vouch for or contradict anything that anyone else has written. I can only share with you my experience.
I moved in a one-bedroom apartment about three months ago (July 2009), and I have really enjoyed almost every moment of it. The staff was very nice for me, and the deal I got on this place was incredible. I basically got my apartment for less than $1000 a month. I lived in an apartment complex by Mall at Millenia before living here, and over there I paid more and got a lot less.
I was told that the original builders/owners of Mirasol were foreclosed on, and now the bank owns it. The property is currently being managed by Lincoln Property Company (http://www.lincolnapts.com). In any case, as I mentioned before, the staff has been very nice to me. Applying and getting the apartment was a smooth process. I'm living in the main building.
As far as noise, I don't hear a thing. I know I have people living on both sides of me, and above and below me, and noise just isn't an issue. Perhaps it is because I'm in the main building. Who knows. I love sitting out on my deck. I overlook the fountain in the back, and I think it is all very beautiful.
I feel very safe. I think some people mentioned issues about their cars being broken into. I feel very bad for them, but I certainly haven't had any issues. There are a lot of very nice cars parked here too.
The construction and whatnot seems plenty good to me. And the maintenance staff is very responsive. I had a small issue with one of my doors and with my AC, and both were fixed the same day.
Mirasol's location might be the best thing going for this place. It is a quick drive in from 192 (and 4). No zipping back and forth down side streets and stop signs to get back to your place. Publix and Walgreen's is close. The nearest gas station is very close. Super Target isn't too far away. Of course Disney is down the road. And super best of all, it is about a 5 minutes walk from Market Street! We were down by the waterfront for the 4th of July, and we had a blast! I couldn't believe the fireworks that Celebration set off.
What else can I say' I'm just really happy to be living here. I looked at about ten places in Celebration, and Mirasol was by far the nicest, and believe it or not, the cheapest (relatively speaking of course).
Just so you don't think I'm a "management shill", as one person wrote, I do have one major complaint. The Technology Package that you are forced to pay for is awful. The cable service includes only 4 HD stations (which I can't figure out how to get anyway) and about 95 other stations, and there is NO OPTION -- none -- for upgrading. At my old place I had 250 stations, and dozens in HD. That's what I like! Even worse, you don't use a cablecard, so no Tivo HD for me. I don't think there is anything that can be done here at Mirasol to get better cable service. You might be able to get satellite in some apartments, but the main players in the area can't come in Mirasol (Bright House, Comcast, etc.). I checked.
The Technology Package's Internet service is even worse than the cable portion. I actually think you can upgrade one level, but it still sucks. Of course I'm talking from a power user's perspective. The download speed is something like 1 or 2 MB per second. That's too slow for me, because I stream HD movies and whatnot, and I have about half of a dozen devices pulling from my connection. And the upload speed is no faster than 250k. That is also too slow for me, because I do photography, and I can't wait around for hours while my three pictures upload to Flickr. I actually ended up getting SmartCity to come out here and set up a decent Internet connection (which I am pretty happy with, other than having to pay another $80 or so).
Anyway, so yeah, that technology stuff upsets me. But outside of the Technology Package, everything else here has been great. A washer/dryer is included in the rent, and mine workers perfectly. All the appliances are new or newer. No problems at all there. AC is plenty strong. Spacious floor plan.
There is definitely an older crowd here, but I don't have a problem with that. Rather, I like it. It's peaceful. Oh yeah, the arms on the elliptical machines in the gym are stationary -- that really bugs me. Who ever heard of elliptical machines with stationary arms' So, there is one more thing I don't like. But again, my experience here has been overwhelmingly positive, and I am extremely happy that I choose Mirasol. My fiancee is moving in soon, and we are seriously considering purchasing a condo here when the lease is up next year, depending on what is available.
The sordid past of this place, at least as far as the reviews go, is something I cannot explain. I'm sure much of what has been written, going back to 2004, is true. But how much of it is relevant to the current management and condition of the property' Not too much, I'd say. I definitely would recommend this place. And if you stop by right now, you will be blown away by the deal you can get.
Someday I'll have to try the spa. Then I can comment on that too. Oh, and the breakfast. I haven't tried that yet either, but yeah, there's free breakfast every Saturday morning for residents.
