Kept Entire $600 Deposit After I Moved Out! Don't Live Here, It Isn't Worth It!

First of all, they have Section 8 housing there. They won't tell you that before you move in, but you'll find out once you move in and see who you're neighbors are. It's frustrating when you pay over $1000.00 a month and your neighbors are living there for free. The gate at the front worked maybe 5 days the whole time I was there. They said they do criminal background checks on everyone there. This can't be true because I saw several house arrest ankle bracelets on people living there. Police make regular appearances to Aluna Largo. I had to pay a $400.00 pet deposit and a $250.00 security deposit when I moved in. After I moved out, I received a check in the mail from Aluna Largo for $6.24. There was no invoice, no explanation, just a check that said "move out refund." I called to dispute this and they said that $200 of the $400.00 pet deposit was a "pet fee" and was non-refundable. Then they charged me $327.00 for the "pet stains on 65% of carpet and urine odor neutralizer, heavy deposits." This may be an accurate charge if someone has a pet that urinates on the carpet, but mine does not. I have a 10 pound dog that is 5 years old. I wash him weekly and come home at lunch daily to let him out. We've lived in other apartments and always received the full refund with no problems. My dog does not urinate inside and my apartment did not smell and I have about 30 people who can attest to that. The property manager had a nasty attitude when I came in the office to dispute this in person and said "There is nothing we can do about it, this conversation is over and you can leave." There are plenty of other nice apartments to choose from. I would not recommend this one.

Thanks for your comments---I am handicap and could not work if I wanted to. You are lucky you can. I am a college grad on Section 8. They do not pay your whole rent not even 1/2 of it. It is stupid people like you with no time to education yourself about others in this world, that gives me great pleasure in knowing I will not move there.

You are correct in the ignorance of some people in the world but don't let the person who wrote this comment stop you from movin in. The contract state that if there are any damages to the apartment it will be deducted from the Security Deposit. The person must have had damages and that would be the only reason they kept the security deposit.

To all the section 8 whiners on previous posts and this one...No one is saying you don't have the right to live here. They are saying the non-section 8 people have the right to be informed that it is section 8 housing. I don't care if they are not legally required to disclose it. They should tell you. Why don't the want to tell? - Because they know dang well people won't move in because the difference between section 8 housing and non-section 8 is noticable. That is fact, not stereotype. Some may be upstanding members of the community, but many are not.

I posted this review and I'm responding to the person who wrote that I have no time to "education myself about others in the world." I'm sorry that you're handicapped, but I work with many people on Section 8 housing on a regular basis and I can tell you from personal experience that nearly all of those I work with are able, but unwilling to work and 9 times out of 10 are pros at scamming the system. It's strange that all of these unemployed people have brand new luxury vehicles and high end name brand clothing and accessories. FYI, I have a Bachelor's Degree too and have spent several years living in foreign countries so it's best not to attack someone's personal character unless you have your facts straight.
