Lived in two UD Properties in 2 states, NEVER AGAIN!!!

I lived in Turtle Creek Apartments in Little Rock, AR and Bay Meadows here. I had bad experiences at both apartments, not b/c of the location or the actual apartments, but b/c of the management team. You ask for a receipt and they look at you like you have two heads. They're realatively "nice" to you until you give your move-out notice, then they treat you like garbage. At Turtle Creek they were extremely slow in taking care of maintenance problems, but they were adequate at Bay Meadows. However, they enforce rules for some and not for others only upon move-out. Yes, we had a stain on our carpet that was our fault in one bedroom (accidentally spilled bleach), but they claimed to have to replace the whole entire carpet from the whole apartment as a result, (which they do after every tennant anyway). There was no other damage and on top of losing our deposit, they charged us an extra $600-$700, which was gouging, to replace the carpet. I wasn't there when my husband picked out the apartment, so in my opinion, $1015 is WAY too expensive for a 1 BR, 1BTH w/a den that's less than 900 SQFT. You're paying for the location. Go down the street a mile and only pay $750 for a 2 BR, 2 BTH for 900 SQFT. We told them (at Bay Meadows) that we had to move out when my husband lost his job and the management didn't even know how many people we had living in our apartment and we lived there TWO YEARS!!! They wanted us to move into a smaller apartment to "save money." Okay... we have a kid and the den was his room... and they want us to move into an even SMALLER apartment than a 1BR w/a Den''' Is that even legal' We were "lucky" (sarcasm alert) enough to live behind the recording studio to hear the off-key no-talent losers outside practicing their singing and then horribly failing at playing their drums at 11 p.m. every night (my child goes to bed at 8 and doesn't fall asleep until after the pain of the drumming stops). On top of that, the "Venue" is extremely noisy and when you call to ask them to lower their music, they only turn it louder until you call the cops and other people do the same. Our neighbors upstairs were also "noisy." Surprised they didn't end up pregnant as many times as we heard them. They had two large dogs. Dogs should not be allowed to live in upstairs apartments. The management was not only horrible to us, but before we moved out, aparantely a disgruntled past tenant burned down one of the buildings while people were living there! I honestly was not surprised based upon how we were treated. The only person worth talking to at Bay Meadows was ----. He was the only one there who talked to you like a human being. The poor guy has to move out of his own complex b/c people were bothering him at all hours of the night b/c apparantely he treated other people like humans as well. United Dominion has since "cleaned house" but b/c of my experiences w/management at two properties in two states, I'll happily find another management company to live with aside from United Dominion.
