My ex has recently moved out of those apartments (over 30 days ago) and since that time, has been laid off of work.
As you d imagine would be the case for many renters, he lives paycheck to paycheck for the most part and was looking forward to his security deposit check coming back to him in the mail.
After many, many phone calls to management, none of which were returned, inquiring as to when he would receive his money he was forced to drive to the office to get a simple response. Neither one of us could believe that the response was that he was not to receive ANY of his deposit back because he made no attempt to clean the apartment and that all the blinds were broken!!

I was a leasing consultant and resident services coordinator for 3 years and I can assure you that this is NOT the case!!

He lives alone, is clean, rarely used the oven, had no pets and very seldom any visitors other than myself and his 70 something year old parents and he also vacuumed and cleaned the floors etc. frequently.

I can t say the same for many other apts. in the same building which you could tell from the outside were a Pigsty!! Maybe they confused his apt with one of theirs' I doubt it.....I believe this is most likely standard operating procedure from a management team I d consider as fraudulent, unprofessional, unethical and symbolizes everything that is wrong with renting apartments today.

When $150 dollars is important for an individual to make ends meet it is even more wrong for these kinds of people to steal it from them, especially when it is given under what looks like a false guise as a necessary deposit for the purposes of approving a lease and being told it will be given back when lease terms have been met, a complete lie.

I will be sending this email to a local news program and reporter, who I am sure would love to make this into a special feature, if I do not get a response to this. I am hoping that, in the Spirit of Christmas at least, that someone will step up to the plate here.
What would $150 mean to the company' What will it mean to a guy who just lost his job at Christmas time'

i had the same issue. it took over 4 months to get my deposit back. but i did get it back and i requested the full amount and i received it later on. they refused a walk thru with me and never sent me a certified letter saying what they were going to take. if they dont send a certified letter with in 30 days, they forfeit their rights to keep any deposit and owe you the full amount. that part can be found in the renters right.

Thanks for the heads up. I guess we should take pictures or personally walk management through our apartment when we vacate if we want to see any of our deposit. This palce should be called Melrose on the Scam, because I don't see any Bay - all I see is Scam. Good luck to your friend, i hope they finally get their heads out of their asses, and realize what scam artists they are.

Alerting the news station is an idea because they were there once already!! A woman's sewage kept backing up into her apartment and after many failed attempts to get them to fix it she involved the news investigative team and they found out that her sewage pipe led nowhere which caused it to back up into her apartment! I lived there for a year and suffered through two leaks in our closet in which they had to cut a huge hole in the wall and left it dripping and open for like a month....our ceiling caved in, we found mold and water damage all over the place, we had ants constantly, the neighbors NEVER picked up after their animals, the parking lot flooded, we could never get maintenance to fix anything and if you don't answer your door when maintenance or pest control come around, they just let themselves in!! I feel bad for those who are stuck there for the remainder of their lease. I wish I could post the photos I took of our old place.

I know he got a certified letter but it was way after 30 days---he went there in person after 30 days and that must have been when they sent it....and get this....they are asking for even MORE money on top of keeping his whole deposit!!!!!!!!!!.....same guy a year earlier did get his deposit back from apt before this one and that says a lot I think....who is the liar......I send letter to mgmt and guess they don't care since I never heard back Thank for responses....this isn't even my problem and gets me this mad!!!!
