I could not agree with you more. I dealt with the same horrifying conditions when I lived there. Trust me, you will see a follow-up news story on this dump shortly. Some people, including myself, are determined not to let this go on any longer. Every day, new people move in and deal with the same s*** we have dealt with. It's terrible, and it has to stop.

I find the comments from the staff at the office quite Bazar to say the least.
When My dryer did not work I was told "Oh the clothers are supoosed to be damp" Yeah right Hello Yes I will put them away damp so that when I go to put them on they will be Mildew and match the rest of the dump.
#2 Go to your local store and pick up Arm and Hammer or better yet go on the computer and look up arm and hammer and get something so that your dishes will get clean you may even want to call them up. Yeah Hello don't want to her compleants its just RENt and get commission glad that you don't like it here move so I can get more rent and commission seems to me that these office people are out of commision as well as out of there minds.

Not sure why I'm adding a response, I don't live there anymore, but just want to say I'm so sorry they let the place go. I moved to Florida 12 years ago and lived in The Vinings for a year and a half with my three little sons. We had a 3 bedroom, ground floor unit facing the pool and everything was awesome. I mean awesome. Safe, clean, beautiful, the maintenance was great, neighbors were great...it was heaven. I don't know what management took over, but they should be sued if they've allowed a really nice place to get that bad in 10 years.
And thank you all for posting...when they turned some of them into condos I was considering buying one until I read the board...no thanks...you guys saved me!

They are letting everyone go out of their lease on by April 1st. New management took over and now they need everyone out so that they may "cheaply" renovate the place under budget. Great. can't wait to leave. On such short notice too.. and 700 dollars later...

Will the office confirm the lease situation (e.g. JL0226's comment about all leases being terminated on or by April 1st, 2008??)? If so, I need to start looking for a new place. (Any suggestions from the group would be appreciated...)
Thanks!

I don't know about the April 1st thing
I do know that everyone will have to leave sooner or later
They were to start certain blds and then ask if you want to move to another bldg. People leaving have been asked to move to Pinellas park location. Nice there 7 years old No laundry and a bit out of the way
I would start looking if I were you,Just in case
They will pay for the move in a 5 mile radious so I hear Just look at it as a blessing. Very un healthy place to live any way. When they are done the rents will be to high any way

It's true that some buildings are closed and people were told to move out. Also, everyone else appears to be automatically moving into a month-to-month lease when their current lease is up and renewal is not an option. I see at least one construction dumpster out there, and saw some folks painting when I drove by the other day. This place is definitely about to undergo some serious renovations. It's only a matter of time until it gets really noisy around here.
Want to hear something exceedingly funny? On April 1st (yep, April Fools Day) I received a letter from the US Department of Health & Human Services (United States Public Health Service is the actual office name). They're conducting a national study on health-related issues and my address was randomly chosen for an interview and survey. Considering the mold problems we've got here and other issues in different buildings, I thought this was a totally ironic coincidence.
To be clear, their goal is not/was not to check up on the Vinings. It's a health review and survey that's unrelated to any of the problems discussed on this site. However, considering their role, it may very well be their duty to report health issues if they hear/see enough of it.
Funny.

I AM REPORTING UNSANITARY LIVING CONDITIONS IN BLDG 8. I JUST POSTED MY FIRST COMMENT ON 4/2/08. THIS COINCIDENTAL VISIT BY THE PUBLIC HEALTH DEPARTMENT IS ENCOURAGING AND YES, INDEED, FUNNY. COCKROACHES, ANTS AND MOLD CERTAINLY CAN'T BE CONSIDERED SANITARY!
