I moved into Lost Lake Apts (pink bldg) in Oct '01, and stayed until March 07. During that time I had a fridge replaced, a stove replaced and the a/c repaired 2x. No other problems! One manager, Ana, was shifty but left soon to be replaced for a couple yrs by K. & D. Yost who were marvelous and very concerned with upkeep. Pest control came every month, so no bugs; all windows had screens; I had one of the larger 2nd floor units w/ 2b/1bath. The kitchens ARE 'marginal' in amt of cabinet & counter space but have a lot of floor space so eat-in table & cabinets can be set up. No wash/dry available in units but there were facilities downstairs. My only complaint construction-wise was the stairs. They needed rebuilding and re-carpeting for a long time, and I noticed recently that it had been done late '07. The only reason I left when I did was due to outgrowing the space. It was approx 800 sq ft, and I relocated down the road in a 1100 sq ft ground floor apt. The person who complained about Jay Spooner as owner was speaking at least some truth, but he no longer owns that bldg, nor acts as manager for it. Parking is 2 spaces in front of your own unit, or along the side area near dumpster. The apts were built prior to the mid-80s and have had the roofs replaced during the last 90s. It's not near any trouble water areas (FL gets lots of flooding) tho there is a small decorative lake near by. Also, there are a LOT of frogs/toads living there during the springs. As with many apts, I had a hard time getting my deposit back from the current owner, so I would suggest that anyone renting NOT pay the rent for the last month they will be there and let the deposit cover it...took 10 months to get my full deposit back, and that is the worst thing that happened to me during my time there.
