My husband and I managed Lost Lake and Mayo Drive Apartments in August of 2006 until March 1, 2007. The manager Jay Spooner is horrible. He just lets anyone move in there as long as they have money. He says he does background checks, but only takes peoples money and then a few days later says everything was fine but never did the check. All he cares about is collecting rent and is there around the first of the month, but then after that is never around. People have left messages on his cell phone and on the office phone but he would just ignore people, because he's too lazy to do anything. A tenant had a hole in their shower wall for 6 weeks. Another person had no water for 3 days and a lady hadn't an ac unit in here apartment for over 6 months and it was in the dead of summer. There is a huge sewage problem and several people had sewage back up into their apartment and Jay would always say to these people "well, what do you want me to do'". He really is a dead beat manager!!! 90% of the people that live there have a record (mostly drug related or violence) and it is well known with the Sheriff's Office and Police Department. If you plan on living there please contact local law enforcement, but if Jay Spooner is still managing it, he's horrible. He'll promise he'll do all these repairs and updates to an apartment if you take it. But when it comes to your move in date nothing has been done and then he'll tell you just to move in because he can do repairs even if you're living there is doesn't matter. That's how he gets the apartments filled. He makes false promises and then hopes you'll let it go. The problem is, most people fall for it because they're people in trouble with the law (it's a lower class area) and they don't care when the carpets dirty, or the appliance are falling apart and half the stuff is broken in the apartment. They have a maintenance man Jim, but he never fixes anything and he has a very big mouth and needs to keep his comments to himself. The grounds are so dirty with over grown bushes, weeds, shin high grass, old furniture and trash all over the place. No one has screens on their windows so you can't open them, and there are broken windows that Jay won't fix. Since our short stay there we had 3 different apartments get broken into, on average the police were there about 3 times a week for domestic violence or searching for a wanted person and because people call the cops on other people when they're breaking the law. For example we kept calling the cops every other day about a tenant Jay let move in because they were dealing drugs. During her 6 month stay there were on average 6-8 people living there in a 500sqft apartment and the sheriff's office found 28 grams of cocaine by the garbage as they were running from them and tried to ditch the evidence. Jay's son and girlfriend Joel and Angela were also (and probably still are) selling weed out of the office trailer. I had messages on the phone constantly looking for them so they could "hook them up with something". They had finally been kicked out and are now living in a 2 bedroom there, but they also will make promises to people just to get tenants in there. The last night we were there someone had stuffed papers in the wall of building 8550 (the yellow building) and started a fire. I was so glad to get out of there. Please do not rent there until their is a new manager and the apartments are from the 21st centery and not stuck in the 70's. The apartments are so gross and are very very old. For your safety and health please do not live there!!!! Everyone who lives there now needs to find another place to live or contact code enforcement because Jay is breaking several laws. I know we helped Jay because we were assistant managers and we took part in some of these things not knowing what Jay was really doing. But when we found out that's the reason why we left because we didn't want to be involved in his illegal activities.

Dear Beth and Larry, You should hold yourselves accountable instead of pointing fingers. The reason you were in charge as well, was to provide safety and quality control. You have failed at your responsibilities and are to stuck on pointing the finger and putting this place down, you have forgotten "it's your fault too". We have a wonderful manager now, his name is Frank Mendicino. You should meet him. Frank has turned the Mayo Dr./Lost Lake apts. into a wonderful, safe, respectful place to live. We are very proud to live here and can only hope Mr. Frank Mendicino will be with us for a long time to come. We would recommend this place to everyone.
