We supplied management with 30 days notice. We then informed them that we would need to extend our stay for one more week. They said that was fine. When we dropped off our keys they said we didn't provide them with a new 30 day notice so we still owed the new months rent. Two years after we left, we found out that they decided we owed over $250 more aside of our $600 deposit. Two years later when we are moving to a new apartment, we can't get approved because this has been referred to a collections agency. They only accept money orders and even though it was overnighted they still took their time to send a letter to the new place we were moving to stating they had received their money. (Our deposit the remaining amount was used to pay for new carpet which sucks because that was my top complaint when we moved in. The previous owner had a cat and it wreaked! If you looked closely at the baseboards you could see cat hair painted into the walls - not to mention the matted stains that you could see they tried to "steam clean") Anyway, so now 4 years later I am applying for a medical loan and find out that they are still reporting this $250 to a collections agency as unpaid. This should be illegal. They extorted money out of us.
