Comfortable - Pricey - Noisy - Showing Age

After having lived at The Cove Apartments for a year; we cannot recommend the complex to others, that is unless you are a young college student who likes to party frequently or relishes the sound of aircraft taking off and landing; since the complex is directly off the end of both Embry Riddle and Daytona International Airport runways.

The units are not well insulated; which makes for some very uncomfortable and noisy situations at times, due to the party atmosphere. You may also hear the roar of water in pipes in the wall from washing machines and people taking showers at times.

The kitchens are atrocious and very small; however, they are adequate with most outfitted with the original ?builder? appliances.

The units recently underwent a painting ?face-lift? whereby the screens on screened-in porches were cut to gain access to the unit porches for painting, instead of entering through the apartment unit. After painting, it was six months before our screen was repaired and management refused to make any allowances in unit rent; which was an extra $15.00 for the luxury of having a screened porch.

Management is similar to a car sales lot; pretty office, beautiful front entrance, and management falling all over themselves to impress prospective tenants - however, after the lease is signed no one goes beyond the least possible effort to satisfy tenants. We saw the police on at least two occasions at units within the complex due to noise complaints - yet the noisy parties have generally continued unabated, even with strict written prohibitions against loud conduct in the lease documents.

The units are definitely far too pricey for the lifestyle quality one has to endure. One additional note is that the complex is ?hyped? as a gated community; however, with two entrance gates and one exit gate, expect the gates to be out of order roughly 25 percent of the time.

Bottom line, if you?re an older laid-back professional type or retired, stay away - if you are young and like to party, this is the place for you.
