I have never been more unhappy with a community in my life. I have only lived at the Island Club apartments in Daytona Beach for less the six months and I am already counting the days before my lease is up and I am able to leave. There is a HUGH pest problem! Spiders, leeches, palmetto bugs, and a roach or two are just a few of the visitors we have had in our apartment.
The management is horrible. They are two-faced and rude. Watch out for them because the will try a scam you! Before moving in we had toured the place and were quoted a price of 770 a month plus a washer and dryer rental fee of 35 dollars making our total 805 a month. well when we moved in the washer and dryer were not installed like it was supposed to so I gave the front office a call and the maintenance people were there the next day and installed a very old run down washer and dryer. Well a hour later we get a phone call from the front office telling me that my roommate and I were needed at the front to fill out an appliance form were she wanted us to now pay an additional 35 dollars a month making our rent 840 a month. I quickly explain that we were already being charged for our appliance rental. For forty-five minutes she tried to tell me that I was mistaken and that we were not paying our appliance fee, thus needed to go to the office and sign a form authorizing them to now charge us 840 a month. Only after I had offered to show her the copy of the lease I had been giving that clearly states that I WAS ALREADY being charged and had signed a appliance form did she back down and leave us alone.
Not only did they try to pull a fast one with our rent but also the washer and dryer we were almost conned into paying twice the amount for were crap. We went through four dryer in the first two weeks of moving in. The first dryer over heated and didn t dry the closes. The second dryer installed just plain didn t turn. The third had no heat and then later just quit all together. FINALLY by the time the installed the fourth dryer I had had enough of there bull and my cloths smelling like mold that I settled for a less then satisfactory piece of garbage that takes four cycles to completely dry a load of cloths!
The management also closed the pool down for two weeks in the middle of the summer. When the demanded for it was at its highest! Who does that'
Just with in the last few weeks our water was shut off for two days because of a water pipe leak. Granted that could happen anywhere but when I called the front desk to ask when they hoped it to be on again the lady at the front was very rude and basically told me it was my problem not hers! The street in front of my house flooded and mud was all over the sidewalk. Although the water has been turned back on the pressure has gone way down and little water comes out of the faucet and there are still giant holes in the ground where they had dug up the pipes weeks earlier!
To make matters worse. As I am typing this to you the apartment managers feel it necessary to block off fifty parking spaces at a time over a course of a week to repave the road, which has put several tenants without parking spots! The parking lot is over flowing with cars that have no where to go. People are so desperate they are parking up curbs, double parking which is blocking cars in, and some are just right in the middle of the road. For students like us who have classes at eight in the morning, to be blocked in and unable to leave on time for our classes is not only incontinent like they would have you believe but COMPLETELY inconsiderate and unforgivable!
I have taking some photos to help show viewers what I am talking about. They were taken at night so please bare with me.
In writing this I just hope I stop at least one person from making a big mistake and moving into a place that truly is unbearable!
