Disgusting, "renovated" or not.

A friend of mine had been living in one of the Diplomatic Towers for a while. She had an ongoing problem with a resident following and harassing her and the management was of no help. In addition, though security cameras are installed in elevators and the parking garage, footage was absolutely useless in a time of need after theft and vandalism of a tenant's belongings.
As others have said, the place is very dirty. My shoes were always blackened after walking in the hallways and elevators there and I had to be very careful when returning into my own home so as not to damage my carpet. Insects were frequently in the hallways and apartment, and eviction notices on doors, as well as the presence of police, was common. The noise level was also uncomfortable at all times, but especially during events. All of the appliances are crappy and old, the windows are cheap and don't open or close easily, the rooms are small, and the loud AC unit sits right on your balcony taking up most of the room. Floors are carpeted or vinyl and ceilings are textured. In short, it's repulsive.
Recently in a moment of desperation I needed an apartment and checked out the Diplomat, figuring that the new owners may have made a dent in the shoddiness of the property. From what I can see they're updating the kitchens with bottom of the line appliances and raising the rent to nearly double. Meanwhile homeless individuals are sleeping on sofas in the parking lot each night. To boot, the management staff was completely snotty and rude, presumably bringing their self-righteous South Florida behavior to Daytona. I think they should feel embarrassed of their greed. The place is still lame, and in a crappy part of town with transients/homeless/hookers/drunks encircling the general vicinity at all hours.
Pick another place.
