When I first moved to Macalpine Place, I was very excited. It is a beautiful looking property. The floor plans are very spacious, I have a beautiful view of the front lake which has a fountain in it, and the property seems to be very well taken care of. Then I moved in, and realized it wasn't going to be what I thought it was. Don't get me wrong, the community is beautiful, but the residents who live here are horrible, including some staff who work in the office. In my apartment, you can hear everything the person beside, below and above you are doing, this isn't an exaggeration. I love my kitchen, and floor plan, but I cannot enjoy due to constant noise from neighbors, including some who constantly fight below me. Just because someone lives above you, does not mean they cannot hear your constant fights, plus they work for the company. They slam doors, and have domestic fights constantly. Plus, no one can seem to pick up after their pets. I have several neighbors with pets, and they can never seem to do it. Management has tried to cure problem, however, when I have complained, it does not seem to help. There is also the matter of them letting pit bulls, rottweilers, and german shepards into the community. When I moved here, I was told I could not have my dog here, so we arranged for her to stay with my family, isn't there something discriminatory about that' If you are young, you may like this community, it seems to be full of young, obnoxious residents. Management seems like they want to help, however, they all seem lost in their own worlds when I come into office. The two in the front seem to stare into space when someone walks in, but they mean well. They are very sweet and nice. The manager never comes out of her office. When she does, it is only so someone will think highly of her. She could care less of the community here. I will be moving out at the next of my lease terms.

I completely understand what you are saying. However, I feel that the office was wrong in letting someone else have what the rest of us can't. All I ask is that if someone brings it to the managements attention, that something be done about it. I know, most people on here do not give management the chance to fix their issues, however, I am a firm believer that everyone deserves a chance to fix something. Maybe they don't know about the issue, so they can't fix it. However, when you tell the management several times on the phone (yes, it can sometimes get lost from the phone to the manager), and then have several meetings with the manager, that is when there is something wrong. I think everyone would agree on that one. I think this is a great and beautiful property, just that the management does not care to do anything about the problems that are brought to their attention. Think about it for a few... I think everyone should live in these beautiful apartments, as I loved mine for the time I lived there!! Please, move in... just be sure to be persistant in the things that should not be going on. Groovytimes, do you really want to live somewhere where you can't sleep because of your neighbor. No, its not managements fault your neighbor is white trash, not many people are here, but they should be able to control it once you tell them... right?!

yellow, have you considered perhaps a) mgmt must 'catch' the offenders in the act in order to proceed legally? or b) they folks with lrg dogs MAY have been grandfathered in before the restrictions? or c) the RESIDENT snuck the dog in? Landlords cant just 'change' or 'fix' these things on a dime...they have a regid legal process that must be factual and provable in order to kick someone out (at least until the lease expires). Noisy neighbors...yep, they are out there...everywhere....you say management should be able to 'control it"...umm, how? they can send disturbance notices...and IF YOU the one who hears the offender, provide specific details..then, maybe, they have enough to proceed to have them legally removed...which, by the way, takes weeks...not hours like some residents believe! Managers do care, and they try to return every call, meet every resident, walk the property, follow up with issues, manage their staff, post rent, review the market, plan resident events, deal with the lost dog, deal with the guy who plowed down the gate, get a quote to repair it, meet with the various county depts review to monthly inspections, meet with their boss, do reports, deal with the kid locked out, deal with the car blocking the drive, knock on doors to collect rent, ask the unruly teens to leave the pool with their bikes, sign leases and letters, talk with their staff that may have a problem, attend meetings and training, deal with the resident that cant pay rent, or just got divorced and wants out of the lease, cuz its the managers fault", deal with 25 other residents cuz the gate is broken, because the other resident ran into it trying to piggyback in, deal with more residents on the same issue....oh, and interview to replace the leasing agent that got tired of being a punching bag for residents having a bad day....YUP, I would say she or he has all the time in the world for one on one conversations that last an hour with each resident....yup...God forbid she/he might actually have a family and want to work ONLY 10 hrs a day! stacy...you are in the industry..pretty much sound like your day? |

I totally agree about our days being hectic, but I'm torn. It really depends on the situation. But I definately agree that our days are very stressful, and we have a million, then one more thing to do everyday, and a lot of residents do take that for granted. Every person in the industry will say that is true... plus losing so many people due to being tired of residents constantly yelling at them... its hard to keep track of everything.
