It seems that some apartments are being leased to an outfit called "Alternative Treament International which has pictures of the Macalpine Place apartments on its web side, billing it as their Treatment Facilities and Accomodations.
http://www.alternative2rehab.com/trea outfit was featured in a ST. Pete Times article about six months ago because they had rented apartments at The Vinings in Clearwater for a similar purpose. The new management there was succesful in evicting them as they apparently were in breach of their lease, using the apartments to house transient drug addicts.
I was considering renting at Macalpine Place but NOW, I certainly will not, if they are that willing to rent apartments for drug addicts treatment.

I just want to say that my brother attended that treatment facility and I met a lot of those "addicts" and they were some of the nicest people who were really willing to get help. The treatment center does not accept insurance and it is completely out of pocket and it is not inexpensive by any means. They have counselors who spend the night EVERY NIGHT with those who are receiving treatment. I live at MacAlpine Place and I have no concerns about living with people who are receiving treatment from Alternative Treatment International (ATI). Thank you for reading. |
