Pretty as a picture - from the outside

I thought I was moving into the taj mahal, really nice landscaping and two pools, tennis courts, a hot tub and gym. And it was so easy to get my name on the dotted line. Only 199.00 security deposit... and I did it even though I had read other bad reviews on this site. What a HUGE mistake. I have children, and this is not a 'family' community. There is a single man living below me that cursed me the first day I moved in for all the 'noise' we made.
The noise was not us, but normal movement in the apartment that sounds like thunder or earthquake because the floors are wood, not cement - and you can hear EVERYTHING. Thankfully, our neighbor below was nice enough to crank the Beatles during his 'busy' times with his girlfriend. It was so loud I couldn't sleep, but the thought of calling the CIS "Crime Intervention Services" (joke they are, never get here soon enough to do anything about valid complaints like late night sex in the pools), just was not feasible, the music would be over by the time they arrived.
The first 6 months we lived here, we tolerated the BS for the ammenities, because the management team was very understanding and really seemed to care about the tennants and their satisfaction. Unfortunately, the last several months have been HELL. A new manager came in, all the 'nice' people left, and we (the tenants that pay their paychecks) can't seem to do anything right.
There are more -------/--- couples living here now, which is hard to explain to our children when they see them holding hands and kissing. I would not recommend it to families or anyone that wants a peaceful place to live.
Further, since the new managment took over, the grounds are not well kept. They are supposed to go around each morning, and thoroughly search and dispose of any trash left laying around by the pigs that live here (and there are plenty), and still I see beer bottles lay around for days and days and days.. even had a broken glass soda bottle right near the driveway in front of my garage, in the grass - my kids could have stepped on it or fell on it and been hurt terribly bad. They never cleaned it up, I had to do it myself. And yes, the lower level apartments have extreme bug issues - and if you bring your pet, expect to pay for the most expensive flea and tick meds you can buy, because they don't treat any of the lawn, and they will come in on your dog everytime you go out for a walk.
On the bright side: Oh was there a bright side to living here at MacAlpine Place, only if your lease is about up... yippee!

I actually feel bad for this person. Instead of teaching you children that love can come in any shape or form that you need to make excuses to them about someone who's lifestyle is different from your own. Sad! I used to live there and the staff did care as they said for a while. Once the new manager came in and the rest of the staff was lost it was a bad change. Hopefully it will get better.

love is defined by one word - God - God is Love -- what is acceptable to Him is acceptable to me, he also defined family, as the first one would not be here if it hadn't happened the way He intended, a man and a woman procreating -- we'd be just a big animal kingdom if the first man and woman were --- and -------...

The manager that you were thinking of just transfered to another state.. the new team is great. I never had any problems and they seemed very approachable.

We greatly appreciate the feedback of our residents, and welcome any questions and concerns that anyone may have to be directed to us at the office! Although we are not able to make every single person happy (unfortunately), we truly strive to make the stay of our residents as enjoyable as we can.
In any apartment living situation, you are always bound to hear noise of your neighbors. Anything that is out of the ordinary we are more than willing to address immediately.
We also offer free weekly pest control to our residents!! It is true that 1st floor apartments tend to be more prone to pests (especially in Florida), but our residents who utilize our pest control services find it incredibly helpful! We continue to do preventative pest maintenance to our grounds and pet park on a regular basis as well.
We also have recently upgraded our CIS services to a nightly foot patrol. Our CIS services are now available, and on site, at all times in the evening!
As for our residents, we are an equal opportunity housing community that maintains the confidentiality and privacy of our residents. We take pride in our beautiful community and are one of the only places in the area that offers the vast array of amenities that we have. Each and every resident must pass our credit, income, and criminal background check before moving in. As for their personal habits and lifestyles, that is not for us to judge or condemn.
The staff at MacAlpine is very proud of our great community, and our many amazing residents! If anyone that lives in our community ever has any questions or concerns, we encourage you to contact us at any time via phone or email.

You are not completely encouraged to contact the office via phone, if they don't like your complaints, they will just send you a letter that tells you that you may NOT contact them in person or by phone... saw the letter a neighbor received. Policies are one sided, as commercial vehicles and recreactional vehicles are suppossed to be prohibited from the premises, but selectively some are given tow notices and others are overlooked. The entire facility is very unprofessionally operated. It is sad that they are one of the only communities with the ammenities they offer in the Dunedin area.
And for the record, once again, regarding the noise problems: the buildings were constructed in a substandard manner for the purpose which they are used. Good quality community construction uses concrete between floors to deaden the common foot traffic and incidental noise like moving a chair, closing a bathroom cabinet or setting your groceries down on the floor. The construction at MacAlpine is all wood - and the management openly admitted to me after my complaints, that there was NOTHING they could do about the structural problems inherent in the buildings when they bought them / began managing them ... so BEWARE - it is not a peaceful apartment living experience unless you like climbing two flights of stairs every day and paying the 'penthouse' type rents that requires...

Its more hillarious that you took the time to recognize it as such, on the contrary, according to marriage ammendment that passed in Florida, family, ie that which follows the marriage of two people, is still defined as between one man and one woman... therefore, it is unfair AND inappropriate for this scum bag fifth rate termite infested complex to advertise themselves as FAMILY FRIENDLY
