Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2006
I was supposed to move into Marina Bay on April 7th of this year. The leasing consultant Santiago was extremely nice and it seemed like this would be a fantastic community to live in. He showed me a model of a 1/1 & 1/2 and needless to say I was impressed. He assured me that the actual unit I would be moving into was exactly the same in every way. Well my moving day came and unfortunately for me, I had not been able to do an actual physical viewing of the unit I would be occupying until my movers were there ready to move me in. I opened the door and thought I was going to be nauseous. The place had this terrible musty smell to it, because unknown to me, the they had tried to save a buck on there end by not replacing the nasty, pet-stained and discolored, worn down carpet by having it steamed cleaned the morning of my move in and it had not been able to dry properly due to no ventiliation so they opened up the balcony window in 90 degree heat for it to dry. on top of this, the kitchen, which was very impressive in the model, which had wooden cabinetry throughout was not even close. The white countertops had been so worn down and chipped and instead of replacing them, they simply took white paint and tried to paint over them, In addition, part of the counter did not even match. It was black, a completly ring-colored match. Did they not think I wouldn't notice. The walls were dirty. The tile on the bathroom floor needed to be scrubbed, a curtain rod was missing from the bathroom to hang a shower curtain. When I informed Eric, who was filling in for Santiago that day, he admitted that they never did a final walk through inspection of the apartment. He agreed after viewing it that the carpet had to go. I now had my movers waiting down stairs with all my stuff and the best he could do was offer to change the carpet but not right away. I literally had to pay my movers $400 to turn around and take my things back and put them in storage. I was so disgusted with this whole experience. I did not move in. Santiago called me later and offered to get me another apartment and reimburse me the $400 out of my rent that I had paid to my movers but it was too late. If you are going to do your job, then you need to do it well and responsibly. These are not cheap apartments. The 1/1 was going to cost me $1100 a month. Oh also, the falsely advertise. The model also had a microwave oven in it above the stove as well as the brochures they give you which state that your unit contains a microwave. I gave my expensive microwave away because I didn't need 2 only to find out that this is not so. I am still waiting for my application fee of $265.00 plus my $500.00 security deposit to be returned to me. Santiago insisted that I give him my security deposit a week and a half before my move in which I have never heard of until you sign your lease but I was like whatever. Renters beware and be careful. These people do not give a damn if they waste your time and your money. Marina Bay is a horrible choice.
