Going downhill

The place is going downhill, I would beware of buying.
The place is a mess, but has been cleaned slightly in the last week - I guess to spur sales.
The hurricane cleanup was sad, I was embarassed to have my friends come over. There were storm gutters and light poles laying all over the place for the first three weeks. The staff was not even here for the first, we had to move the trees ourselves to get out of the parking lots.
When equity was running the place, it was decent. It was clean and they took care of the place. The pool was clean, and it would be fun to hang out on the weekends.
Now it is just sad. There are roof tiles hanging near the edge of the roofs. The hallways still have hurricane debris. We have not recieved filters for the AC units in six months.
If you are thinking of buying, you will need to factor in upgrade costs. The appliances are low grade and aging. The wiring is probably bad, the power goes out every day.
If you want to rent, beware. It will cost you a lot! My electric bill is twice that of my friends in similiar apartments.
Hopefully new management will come in and turn the place around. The location is great and the parking is decent.
Me, I am moving out - with everyone else.

Hurricane Katrina struck the day after the Isles was purchased by the new owners. We had no power for a week, and this was the situation all over the area. In late October we were all dealt another hit with Hurricane Wilma, and this time power was lost even longer. We lost over 100 trees and hundreds of roof tiles, however we have repaired all the buildings, cleaned up and replanted, replaced lighting, and put in beautiful newly designed landscaping, so that we are now the showplace of Sunrise. All are invited to come view the jewel known as Isles at Lago Mar, with almost 40 acres, including lakes, with golf course views, and lush tropical settings. |

I was there after Wilma, and the managements actions were deplorable. Trees were blocking the roads out and without the help of some tenants, we would not have been able to leave the complex. When the phone service started working, the office DISCONNECTED their lines! The next day all calls were being routed through an answering service, which was giving out false information. According the the answering service the power was restored 2 days before it actually was. I had left after the storm because of the lack of power. I called in daily to see if the power had been restored. When the service told me the power was back, I returned to find that the power had not been turned back on. I was now stuck, with kids, trying to find a place to stay.
