don't believe the hype

Please don't let the staff fool you into believing the rennovations are completely done. Currently they are in the middle of a neverending roofing job that began over a month ago, and they have a LONG way to go. After 2 weeks of a generator constantly parked outside of my door, I made a complaint to the office. Mind you, I am not a person that complains at the drop of a hat. After not being able to even watch tv in my own apartment during the day because of the noise, I called the office...and was greeted with the rudest response from the clueless office girl. She told me to "have some patience." Excuse me' Have some patience when I have endured an entire month of a roofing job that was not even communicated to the residents until the day before it began' I wonder how they would like it if I came to their house, brought a crew of 50 people, hammered for an entire month and parked a generator beside their living room'
The office staff here is extremely RUDE. Once you sign on the dotted line for your year long lease, they are less than bothered with anything you have to say. You are greeted with a bad attitude and non-existent customer service skills.
On the good side, the apartments are fairly nicely redone inside, but are VERY small for the price, even by South Florida standards. The pools are nice, but they recently paved over the jacuzzi's with no explanation to residents. I have had to go to the office 3 times to get my fitness center key to work, and it is currently not working again. Even with small complaint, the staff acts like it is the residents fault, and they tell you to "have someone let you in that is already in there." Really' So everytime I want to work out I am supposed to beat on the window and disturb someone else' Seriously.
These are just some of the examples of my experiences here. I'm sure other people have had no problems, but that's how it goes. Think long and hard before committing to a year here! I am counting down my final months.....
Good luck!

I've been here for a few years, and yes, of recent, things have seemed to have declined in their standards. Yes, the jacuzzi paving was completely covert, and the leasing office isn't too accommodating with the renovation situation (which does seem never ending), the beautiful 100 year old trees that were in the middle of a roundabout at the entrance were removed for a "fountain" that never arrived. On the other hand, it is a HUGE community and everyone has their own issues. Every issue I've had thus far has been resolved relatively quickly and with an expected amount of courtesy. The community does do cool things like allow a "Papa John's" pizza cart to come in and vend pizza's at a discount price on occasion, as well as host events for the boat show, etc. Parking is still an issue, and the guard house still doesn't have me in their system after all these years (which makes it a hassle almost every time my guests arrive), but they recently re-did the gym (which I've had no issues using my key to get in) and it looks great. All in all, it's not that bad, I probably will not renew again due to the price/size ratio in this market right now, but Port Royal has been a nice home.

Mr. Rogers,
Why must you copy & paste this as a response to each & every complaint? It sounds like you have a lot of complaints yourself, but I guess that cold & dried up $5 Papa John's pizza party makes up for Port Royale's rude staff, overpriced rent, the constant construction, and the cramped apartments? A "huge" community isn't worth anything if it's not properly managed. You must be on their payroll as well.

I own a condo in The Tower for rent or purhcase. I used to live in the apts which are very small as compared to the condo which is nearly 1100 SQ Ft. If you are interested in seeing pic's or viewing I can be reached at patgeiger@earthlink.net
This is a first class residence with all the amenities, covered parking, and a 1BR 1-1/2 bath on the 16th floor looking south at the ocean, intracoastal, and city.

BEWARE: yes the positive posts of - I love this place! reviews are obviously posted by the office staff - this place has sunk to new lows - it now looks like Beirut after bombing - they have removed all the beautiful trees and foliage which was one of the only reasons to live here so they don't have to be bothered with the upkeep with landscaping -resulting in no PRIVACY and environmental exploitation. The residents are hated by the office staff - viewed as inmates in a prison with few rights. Stay far way from this place! I HATE IT HERE!
