READ THIS! WORST NIGHTMARE FLOOD, ETC.

Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2004
I don't know where to start with this. We rented in August of 2002 and renewed. In the last 3 days this place has become the nightmare of my life. I wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy.
I'll start at the most recent stuff. My husband and I are both teachers. We came home the first day of our spring break to find a FLOOD in our apartment. 4 inches of water covering the place. I called management and it took them an hour to even find where it was coming from. Turns out it was a slab leak in the concrete under ground. NOT OUR FAULT. Next door was flooded, too. It took 2 hours to get a water extractor team out here. Mud was everywhere and filthy water. They put 12 industrial fans (about 3 feet high 2 feet wide) and a dehumidifier(about 4 feet high 3 feet wide) in our tiny apartment. With the carpet soaked, everything muddy and the noise of a freight train from the industrial fans we were told the apartment was "habitable". There was also a tube of dirty water leading from the front of the place into our bathtub! We ended up staying with my mom for 3 nights during our spring break. We returned yesterday to find stains all over the carpets, scratched linolieum, ruined belongings, an awful stench, etc. We hired a lawyer and they are still not budging. I asked management (Amber and Vicky) to come and tour the apartment. They LAUGHED at me and said nothing was wrong with it. They also screamed at myself and my mother and the maintenance man stuck his hand in her face and screamed at her. They were even rude and totally unprofessional to our lawyer.
In addition to the flood the swimming pool that we pay extra to live beside has been closed about 80% of the time. They will not refund our money even though we have a claim with the BBB. It looks terrible, it's locked shut and WE PAY EXTRA to live beside it. When I called to ask about it they laughed at me and hug up. THIS IS MANAGEMENT.
We bought an $800 stackable washer and dryer and had it delievered. The plug is on the side of the wall, not behind it, so the washer won't fit even though it matches the dimensions they gave us. Once you plug the washer in, you can not push it back to go into place. We had to take the closet doors off and now have a washer and dryer in the MIDDLE OF OUR KITCHEN. All Gulfstream Isles had to do to fix the problem is move the plug 6 inches to the back of the closet like it should be. When we called they laughed and said "if we move the plug it will ruin the unity of the apartment."
Our toliet is broken and feels like a rocking chair. We called a few times and they said there's nothing wrong with it. The toliet leaks on the floor, too. We now have a blue stain from toliet cleaner on our floor. Our sink links on the countertop and unless you put a towel there you'll get mold every day.
This stuff is only the tip of the iceberg. I could go on for days. I pray nobody has to go through what we did. Our lease expires in August and we are building a house in Cape Coral. If you have any questions, email me buekey@aol.com.
