I've lived at Gulfstream Isles for almost a year now and will not be renewing my lease. When I moved in the complex was quiet and a relaxing place to be. Now you can't go an hour without someone booming bass through the parking lot, children screaming and people stomping up the stairs being extremely loud on weeknights. One of my neighbors likes to walk her dog right out in the front "yard" where people walk to their homes from the parking lot, and leaves the poo everywhere. She has an entire lake/grassy area she could walk the dog that wouldn't bother people so much.
After complaints noone has taken care of the issue.

After I moved in I adopted two cats from a person who was unable to take care of them due to unforeseen circumstances. I adopted them over a weekend and had planned to stop in at the office when I got off work on Monday. Monday I had a notice on my door and the office staff wouldn't believe that I had adopted them over the weekend. I had no documentation, after all. It was my fault for not going through the office first but after explaining the situation I thought they would be a little more considerate and understanding since I had done my best to repair the situation. I was more than polite and even paid the "fine" they charged me on top of the obnoxious pet fee.

Next, I have a serious boyfriend. We spend all our time over at each other's places and were looking to move in together. We even applied for him to come and stay with me but due to a couple minor credit blemishes ($100 or less that have now been paid) he was denied permission to live there. We still spend a lot of time hanging out between places, he just doesn't spend the night at my place. His car broke down at one point and his company vehicle is not allowed in his neighborhood in Cape Coral. I offered to let him keep his vehicle at my place until his car was repaired. It took a little over a week because they had to order a part for him. One morning I woke up and had a 7-day to repair eviction notice on my door. GSI claimed my boyfriend was living with me. At most he had been there 10 days- the lease allows for 14 days without permission (which is ridiculous in and of itself- that number is TOTAL for all guests, not consecutive). I had to furnish evidence that he did not live at my residence (utility bills, etc.). I took care of that but I'm still really offended that they went so far as to accuse him of living with me when there are much bigger problems present in the complex. When we are at my place we are the quietest individuals in the building. We barely make a sound and never bother anyone. The fact that they served notice before the 14 days was up paired with the fact that they have nothing better to do than terrorize a good tenant who always pays rent on time and is a mature, responsible resident was enough to give them my 30-day notice. And they have been so appropriately deemed "Nazis" by the majority of the residents.

I had a problem with a loud noise in my air conditioning system since the time I moved in. Maintenance came down once and did a "quick fix" that didn't even solve the problem (you'd think someone would test it before saying it's repaired). The second time they came they identified the problem but did nothing to repair it. Whenever it runs it makes an loud awful clunking noise, which can make it hard to sleep (I bought earplugs to fix this). To this day it has not been fixed.

The final blow was getting an eviction notice on my door for having another person occupy my unit with the correct address, but with incorrect names. I had not even been staying at my place for several days, then came home to find that stuck to my door. I took it down to the office and they apologized and said it definitely wasn't intended for me. That's not a mistake you want to make, serving eviction notices to the wrong door.

The grounds are kept up though I've heard some complaints from various neighbors' nightmares. There is an office employee, whom, according to my neighbor, likes to have parties in her apartment with lots of smoke, noise and booze. There is also a maintenance employee who lives in a minivan parked in the complex. They can't approve my boyfriend who has worked at the same place for 5 years with a few minor credit blemishes to live there, but they allow their employees to live in minivans in the parking lot' Interesting.

P.S. They're looking to sell. And rightly so, with all the horror stories I'm sure they aren't renting much these days.

What happens to all us renting from GSI and currently have a lease agreement when they sell? You heard other apt complexes selling and then coverting them all to private condos for sale. Does anyone think that would happen here?

WOW, GSI is for sale. I'm not the least bit surprised. This place has really gone downhill and the management has done nothing. I moved out because I got tired of putting up with water leaks, mold and old appliances. Hopefully once the place sells the new owners will fix the place up and do a better job managing the place. I'm not sure what will happen to the people currently living there once the place sells. I would not be surprised if the apartments get converted to condos.

Is this place still for sell?
