Unhappy Renter

For the last year of living here at Gulf stream Isles, I have witnessed a very large increase in all of the things most people would consider undesirable. I first moved here in 2006, and was considerably happy. I never had to wait long for maintenance, It seemed that residents were friendly, took care of their own lanai and kept it clean. The most I would say that was negative was that I got my purse stolen out of my car as I took out my garbage in broad daylight.
In June 2007 I renewed my lease, got the same rent price, consistent with competitors, and was relieved that it seemed I would have another year much like the last which was a good thing due to the fact that I live across the street from work. Again, another year with no problems. The most I dealt with at the time was that feeling that I was living in a dorm, lots of young people here, etc..
In June 2008, I moved to a two bedroom in a different area, a nice location facing a lake, a different atmosphere with a more diverse neighborhood. More room for me. It was different right away. New management sent out flyers regularly about routine maintenance, it seemed there were improvements at first but it soon came to an abrupt ending. I noticed that the management was less customer service oriented and took a little more of a defensive angle to the tenants. I suppose that was good in a way, because rent was cheap VERY CHEAP and people started to filter in that were less than desireable. I have heard of more robberies, the cops are here regularly, not to patrol but arresting people, my neighbor was robbed, another neighbor was having loud parties and his own mother moved him out due to his crack addiction. You get the picture! Not pleasant for a woman living alone.
Last month my dog got out and was picked up by animal control, not before a neighbor took him to the leasing center and asked for the management to look him up in their data base (they insist you have pictures of your animals just in case they need to contact you) but were "too busy" to look him up and he ended up in animal control. I know it was my fault he got out, but a $385.00 bill with animal control could have been avoided if they'd have taken two seconds to look him up and call me.
Just last week, I witnessed two men yanking ducks out of the pond by their necks and wings and throwing them in to a net. That is inexcusable! It is against the law and I am truly sickened that the complex would hire men to mistreat animals this way. The men claimed they were hired to do this and I am not surprised.
Make your own assumption people, mine is that the new management is lacking in customer service, allowing undesirable people live here, and allowing animal cruelty be a regular routine here. I WILL NOT BE RENEWING MY LEASE. The management here is rude, accusatory ( I was accused of changing my lock when the maintenance did ) and LACK ALL TOGETHER IN CUSTOMER SERVICE! I GIVE THEM A D-

Were the ducknappers Asian? We had the same problem at Forestwood. I was told that Asians were taking them for their restaurant and not as guests. :.(

i totally agree with this place going to ----. i moved here in 2007. i chose this place over all others due to their customer service as well as like of the area that it is located in. I was in a one bed room and in 2008 moved into a 2 bedroom
i have2 dogs in which i would walk separately each day 3 times a day. Felt very safe and would walk with no worries and said hi to everyone that walked by -
With new management i see lots of change, there is dog poop every where due to lack of courtesy of the dog walkers that choose to walk 2 dogs at one time and lack the choice of picking up their dogs feces.
There is a "dog walk" area that is a feces breeding ground. There are so many molded feces and new feces i cannot even walk in the " dog walk area" no longer.
I bring my dog for a walk and get goggled at and talked to by strange people that stop in their vehicle to ask " yo whats your name" ....im walking my dog, is that necessary.
People are planting their own plants out side of their lani and throwing food out in front of the building for the ducks to eat....a loaf of bread??? come on now....
The people they are letting into the community is very low class. Im not sure if the rent is lowered but it is a disgrace what is happeneing.
i called to address some issues with management and i was told "ok" ....??? does that mean it will change or not??
i am not renewing my lease a\\ and it is only because of the low class people that are allowed here and lack of management skills it takes to have a nice community. i would even pay more rent to live here rather than lower the rent for trash tenants to live here....ugh
