I lived in Archer Woods from August of '06 to May of '07 while completing part of my MS at the University of Florida. I hear that rental rates have increased considerably since that time, but for the time and at that price - it was a pretty reasonable place. I really liked the layout of the individual apartments, with the two floors granting you a bit of privacy from even your own guests, and a porch for everyone. It was a great place to store my bike or to sit out on and watch the sun set. The apartments open up onto the UF "natural area", and the thick trees hide a lot of the noise and light that might otherwise be expected living so close to the busy Archer strip. Of course, the frogs in the natural area occasionally made it difficult to sleep, but this is not something management can or should control! Management was friendly if always a bit frazzled, and maintenance was occasionally slow in responding - but this may have been because the complex was refurbishing many of the older apartments at the time I was living there. I never had any problems with the management, but I had heard rumors that they could be draconian if you failed to pay your rent on time. I also felt that there was a persistent low-level roach problem that was never addressed. Neighbors were usually quiet, with the notable exception of a few rowdy sorts who did not stay long - they held a few drunken parties and scratched a few cars before they were kicked out. One of my neighbors had her apartment broken into on two or three separate occasions, and cars were also occasionally broken into, so crime may be a problem for the area. A camera or two might have fixed this. The laundry facilities did not work very well when they worked. The pool was always clean. Overall, I enjoyed my time there, and I wish that I did not have to leave as I liked my apartment and the complex. If the rental rates have not gone up too much higher, I would recommend it.
