I've been living at the Bellamay Grand for about 6 months, and will try to give you a clear and fair view of what it is like. 3 parts: buildings/apartments, staff, and residents.
My friend helped build the apartments, so I know how they were constructed. The floors are thin, and there is a thin layer of concrete on top of them. When the concrete breaks, it creates creaking noises that the bottom 2 floors can hear. It is very expensive to fix this problem, so the Bellamay grand will probably keep the squeeky floors for quite some time. the walls are thin and built with pieces of wood glued together for wall support, instead of single pieces, which are much stronger. I can hear next door neighbors conversations everyday, and I can hear exactly where the people above me are in the apartment because of the bad floors. You can also hear people very clearly when in the bathroom. the 1 bedroom apt with a studio is large, and the appliances that come with the apartment are ok, nothing spectacular though. the security system is nice, and so far, with the exception of a few homeless people who got in through the broken gate, the place is secure. The gates are ALWAYS broken...this isn't the managements fault- residence and guest/pizza guys are constantly trying to sneak in and they break the wood barriers. no problems with bugs so far. laundry facilities are expensive and machines not good, exercise equipment is old and limited. gym is nice, but small and often being used by local neighborhood kids who sneak in. the pool is small and crowded in the summer. If you live on the first floor your bedroom will most likely be next to the airconditioning units, and trust me, it is very, very loud. I can hear them through closed windows, covered in drapes, with the airconditionig running and my music playing. It sucks. The car port is broken most of the time, but when it is working it is very nice to be able to take care of your auto.
staff: there are 2 girls that are friendly. One is named chrissana, and the other is new and will go unnamed. the new apartment manager is not very nice, although she seems to think that she is trying hard. I have had limited conversations with her though, and most of what i know is second hand through other residents. she is new to being the manager, so she should be given some slack for a few more months. After the hurrican season, it took more than 2 months to get them to pick up the debris clogging the apartment complex, and old trees from the first hurrican were marked as dangerous but were not removed. these trees fell and damaged cars and people during the following storms. Irresponsible.
Residence: I have not met one that I didnt not like. some I would consider to be freinds, however, there is the occasional horror story of a bad neighbor....but that is to be expected in any apartment complex. everyone seems to be nice and considerate. most residents agree that the place is OK, too expenisive, and feel they would be better off buying a home (the mortgage price would be cheaper than renting at the bellamay grand.
on a side note, i recognize the tone of voice in the perfect reviews, and would assume that they are coming from the staff at the bellamay. It is unfair for them to give themselvs perfect ratings either blatantly, or underhandingly. You should consider that when decided where you will live.
