Bentwood's run by a couple who also live there - the very sweet woman runs the office and her husband does much of the maintenance and landscaping (excellently and often).

I found landscaping to be a little too loud and often, actually, but maybe I am sensitive. I can tell you that my visitors always commented on how lovely the grounds were.

The rent is very reasonable and the units are simple but thought-out in that they have GREAT fixtures. Our one-bed had built-in bookshelves, a spacious linen closet in the bathroom, a utility room and even an attic.

The neighborhood is not really a neighborhood (blah, like much of gainesville) but care is clearly taken to shield you from the highway and the sorry housing nearby.

Being on the bus line (can get you to UF) is convenient in a pinch, and the people there are friendly/keep to themselves (fine with me). There are some grad student types, but also a few young families and what I thought were a lot of older people/seniors (also fine with me).

I wouldn't say it's well-lit in terms of how this survey describes set up, but I felt very safe there.
