This place really spoils you!

Years at this apartment: 2009 - 2009
I lived at Park Lane for almost 3 years -- 2 years in a one-bedroom apartment and almost a full year in the two-bedroom with a loft apartment. I loved living at Park Lane and, having had to move away for work purposes, I have realized how much Park Lane spoiled me! Here are the main reasons why:
1. Management/Service:
Since I was the first one to live in my one-bedroom apartment, I experienced some "new construction" issues (with the water and electric companies). I can honestly say Marcia Wiek (manager) and the rest of the office staff were HUGE advocates for me when dealing with these companies. Marcia would CC me on every email, and give me updates on what was being done to rectify the situations. This was enormously helpful considering I was just beginning a residency program and didn't have the time (or energy) to call and hound these companies myself. Thankfully, the problems (and my bills) were corrected very quickly, and without a lot of effort on my part except letting the office know about my concerns.
2. The apartments themselves:
Besides being clean, new, and spacious with nice interior design (just look at the pics/floorplans on their website) ... I'll tell you about things you can't get off their website ... bugs and noise!
Structurally, the two apartments I lived in were very well bulit. I lived on the ground floor in my one-bedroom apartment, and out of the 2 years I was there, I only saw one roach -- which I had probably let in myself because I would prop my front door open while I was bringing in groceries from my car. I really can't complain of any sound coming from my upstairs neighbors (disclaimer: they were a young married couple who didn't seem to have many people over -- or if they did, I was unaware of it). I would be able to hear their apartment alarm go off as they were entering their front door (that long, high-pitched beeeeeeeeeeeep) until they turned it off, but it wasn't loud enough to be bothersome. Isn't it a good thing that your neighbors can sort-of hear your alarm anyway' In the two-bedroom I lived in (second-floor), I never saw any bugs. We had neighbors that would have get-togethers periodically -- especially during March Madness, etc. Outside, you could definitely hear noise from their patio, but inside -- seriously, all we would hear was muffled laughter and/or cheers. Again, nothing we would ever complain about, and nothing that kept us awake at night. Overall, I would say there was VERY minimal noise.
The apartments are also well ventilated (no moldy smell), and they get a lot of sunlight, too!
3. Parking was never a problem (even with our neighbor's get-togethers).
4. The grounds are very nicely kept. The lawn, trees, and bushes are always manicured -- no trash on the lawns, gum-stains on the sidewalks, etc. I never stepped in dog-poo, either!
5. The pool was always clean.
The only thing I would change is the amount of storage space in the kitchens for pots and pans, dishes, spices, etc. I guess that would matter to you only if you like to cook a lot.
Having had to look for new apartments in a new city, I can undoubtedly say Park Lane spoiled me. You just can't find apartments like Park Lane unless you're willing to pay an arm and a leg. I recently moved into an apartment which also seemed very nice during the walk-through and ended up moving out less than a week later because of the HUGE bug and moldly-smell problem. *Sigh* ... I was spoiled for sure.
I would highly recommend this apartment complex to anyone looking to move to Gainesville.
