I recently was married and have just started grad school (he's in school too), and we moved up in August and have loved Windmeadows. After experience with those typical 4-bedroom college apartments, this has been a great place to live. In no particular order: parking is great- plenty of it and no decals; spacious apartments; no noise complaints (except nature, but prefer that over loud neighbors or parties); and great staff- they've always been helpful and maintenance is fast. Quality of everything seems solid, and if there's a leaky faucet they replace it the very next day.
Price is on the high end compared to other apartments, but they offer great specials for grad students and signing within 24hrs, etc.. It is definitely worth the money, you pay for what you get.
Location is excellent, it's so nice to be so close to Butler Plaza. And it's very close to a bustop which takes through UF to downtown, always enough seats.
I definitely recommend this apartment to anyone moving to Gainesville or just moving across town.

I have lived in Windmeadows since August of 2005 and it has been difficult. I live in a 2 bedroom with my boyfriend and go to school at UF. It has been an overall good experience except for one thing - the neighbors are terrible. I am not a big drinker and I study most nights for school. My boyfriend and I both work, so were not home that often. However, I have recieved four noise complaints over the past few months. Two of the times, I was in bed asleep and heard a knock at the door from a police officer. Obviously mistaken, the officers left without any problems after speaking with me. Another time, my boyfriend and I were just watching a movie together and again, another knock at the door from an officer. Same thing, the officer left seeing that there was no partying, or loud noise coming from the apt other than the tv whose volume was within reason. I'm not sure whether the neighbors are playing a joke, thinking the noise is us when it's not, or if they're just plain crazy. The point is, it's become a huge problem for me to do anything, including even watching tv, without being concerned that a police officer is going to show up with a fine at my door for no reason. For this I say, be careful of who your neighbors are whenever you move into a new place. And, if considering Windmeadows as a place to live, definitely watch out! |
