I liked Windmeadows, but there were definitely issues...
1. Inefficient: Prior to moving to Windmeadows, I rented the same size apartment at Cazabela, my electric bill never exceeded $70, I have been paying $180 at Windmeadows in winter months, and $130 in the summer! I am very conservative when it comes to energy use, everything in my home is on a surge protector, that are turned off when not in use.
2. Air Conditioning is very loud: when we moved in the air conditioner was broken, so we spent one night in a hotel, and 2 nights in a corporate apartment. They installed a new air conditioner, and it is sooo LOUD. No joke, everyone complains. My parents couldn't even sleep at night because it blows so loud. Thermostat is about 10 degrees off, I called maintenance but they guy is so lazy, he said, well, we can't install a digital one due to the type of wiring (it's too old for a digital thermostat)...and yea, I have an MS in Biochemistry, I know how to read analog thermostats.
3. The windows are cheap---they should've replaced them, cracked, broken, very inefficient
4. Washer and Dryer are horrible.
5. Lack of storage: drawers in the kitchen are very small.
6. There is something here that's causing an allergic reaction. I am not sure if there is some mold...but I have been on inhalers ever since I moved in. Cazabella smelled like mold, these don't smell, but there must be something in the air. Whenever they were repairing something in an adjacent apartment, my entire apartment smelled like chemicals. I am guessing from the attic'
Pros
7. 99% of the staff is very friendly, except for the woman in charge; she is just plain rude. I look young for my age (late 20's), but look 18 or so, she always talks to me like I am a kid. I complained that air conditioner was installed improperly and filter couldn't be accessed because the guy placed a pipe over it. She rolled her eyes at me, and said that she will deal with it later after they move in about 40 other people. Then another guy came in, confirmed what I had told her, and it was then replaced the same day.
8. Love the shaded area.
9. Gated...I've felt safe here. Sure, there are -------- that cross morning and night to get to Archer on their bikes through the property, but they are harmless, just using Windmeadows wooded area as a shortcut. Homeless people do use the grills to keep warm, esp. since it has been a very cold winter. I've not been afraid of them, and they only come very late at night (only when cold too).
