Very nice, if not a bit overpriced

I had been very impressed with Ocean Crest Club apartments, but after reading the reviews on this site I realized that my impression of the building wasnt very accurate. I ended up moving in Jefferson Circle instead and it clearly was the right, if not expensive, choice.

I lived in this building from April 2004- June 2005. I had a small single, roughly 750 sq ft single bedroom apartment. My rent was $1,070.

The actual rooms are very nice with hardwood floors in the bathroom and crown molding in the main living room. Layout and construction of the individual apartments was pretty good. However, there is very little closet space.

Balconies are really just small concrete ledges. The bathroom doesnt have stand alone shower, just a tub / shower combo that was just OK. Noise was never a problem. Residents were always polite, but not overly friendly.

Biggest complaint I can make is that when you want to have a guest come over they have to pay for parking. If they park on the street it will be a few quarters, in the garage it will run $3 for all day parking. Sure, its not a lot of money, but its a pain.

The neighborhood is very Good Block, Bad Blocktypical for an area that is being redeveloped. You have some great clubs, bars, and restaurants right outside your door. But dont make a wrong turn or youll wind up in a rough neighborhood. After all, if you drive down US1 one block youll see By the Hour motels with names like Lucky Guy.

The entire neighborhood is being redeveloped and turned into condos. There are 5 condos in various stages of development, with some having broken ground (Radius, Hollywood Station) and others that are being planned. Being that this is the only nice apartment building on the circle (the only other building on the circle is a dump), it went condo as well.

They wanted $220,000 for my little apartment if I choose to convert it. If not, they were going to sell it to someone off the street for $250,000.

Being that I had a very nice view of another building, and the apartment was only a one bedroom, and it was only 750 sq ft, and I didnt make that kind of money I moved.
