I only lived in the apartment for 2 months and August was my 3rd, and last. I had problems with numerous things in my apartment and Debra, property manager, didnāt feel that they were important enough to address. She just brushed me off and tried to make me feel bad about anything that was wrong with the apartment, like it was somehow my fault. Anytime I went to the office, there was somebody trying to get out of their lease and Debra being snotty with them. Who can blame all of us for leaving. Also, if you read the lease, there is a nice fine print line stating they can raise the rent whenever they want. There were bugs (roaches, lizards and lots of spiders) from DAY ONE (dead and alive)! Just recently did they have an actual exterminator come to inspect the property, otherwise they just had the maintenance guys come and do whatever it was that they did. The electricy would periodically go out and they acted like they didnt notice. I came home for lunch a couple of times and my power was out, not very nice to do to somebody in the middle of July. It was the entire complex, not just my apartment. I ran into a few people on the grounds and they say it happens all the time. The a/c was not energy efficient. It would get very cold and then shut off and get really hot, then in turn, would have to work extra hard to get it cold again. (Their solution was to change the filter) I kept my a/c at 78 degrees and my electric bill was always over $70! That may also be from the terrible refrigeratorā I actually paid attention to how much it ran: 5 minutes off and then 35 minutes of running. Maintenance was sent to āclean the coils,ā but it didnāt help, it actually made it worse. Also, they periodically check your apartment for animals. The pool is always closed and/or dirty and the hot tub has never worked. The cabinets are terrible and water damaged and the drawers barely open. The water smelled terrible! Not sure what it is, or why, but it is a terrible smell every time you turn it on. There is no storage space. The bedroom closet is filled with the hot water heater, another closet is filled with the a/c unit and the washer and dryer are in another. Just a note on the dryer, it barely works. You have to dry your clothes 3 times! Also, when I moved in, the hot water was hooked up to the cold and the cold to the hot on the washer. I fixed that myself because who knows how long it would have taken them to come do something for me. The only things that are okay would be the patio, but only because it is screened in. Cable is included, so thatās convenient, but I would rather pay for it elsewhere. I would never have moved in to Belle Rive if I had known how terrible everything is. I wish I would have found this site before I rented! Please take my advice and go elsewhere!

From Debra Prendergast, Manager: In response to this review: I wish I knew the author! It seems like I would remember you with such statements as you have made.I've looked through all of our 2006 leases and move-out forms and can't locate one single person who lived here only three months of our twelve month lease term. I had one move-out in August 2006, however, they fulfilled a twelve month lease and more. If you broke a lease at Belle Rive Club, I would certainly have paperwork and a termination fee record. I do however have a file that contains all of our early terminations in 2006. I had four. Not one of them contains any negative reasons for vacating. I would never be anything but professional in my office and resent your harsh words that I am "Snotty" because someone would be terminating their lease! All of the early terminations from 2006 have forwarding addresses that show that they either bought a home or was transferred out of state.
problems you mention. As for maintenance, I again would like to know who you are so I could pull records to rebutt your allegations. NEVER would either I nor our SUPERB Maintenance Manager ever let a resident have the problems you mention. In a poll of our residents past and present, it is affirmed that our most responsive and learned Maintenance Manager is most appreciated. JEA Power outages in July?? yes, we do experience them occasionally. The entire city experiences them. My response has never been to pretend I didn't notice a power outage. I apologize to those residents who call to report them. What I can't do however is control them and I advise this in a most professional and understanding manner. BUGS,SPIDERS,LIZARDS-I have a Pest Control complaint log, I looked through it for someone who had these complaints. Was this problem reported? Monthly pest control is included at Belle Rive at no charge to our residents. Our Pest Control company is on the property every month and doesn't recall any such problems as bad as you claim EVER in the interior of an apartment at our community. We do have spiders outside our entry doors due to lighting, lizards are seen on the screened patios occasionally. Roaches?? We also get reports of the occasional palmetto bug who manages to get in-we treat for them immediately. On the issue of closet space, Did you lease your apartment without seeing the available closet space first? Why would you be unhappy AFTER you lease? Dryer problems are investigated at once. Clogged lint traps are usually the problem, but again, I wish I knew what apartment you lived in so I could investigate the maintenance requests associated with it. I do see the possibility of one correct statement in your review. If the hot/cold water was hooked up backwards on a new washer/dryer I will admit that that could have happened as I have experienced it before. Our SEARS KENMORE washer/dryers are installed by the Sears Delivery team. They have mistakenly hooked up the water backwards during installation before. I apologize for this if that was the case. If you read this rebuttal, I hope you will feel free to call me so I may have the chance to clear up the mystery of your residency as well as your allegations.

"All of the early terminations from 2006 have forwarding addresses that show that they either bought a home or was transferred out of state."

I am one of those that terminated in 2006 (and I am not the original commenter) and neither of those were true for me. I moved out because of the nasty conditions and the HORRIBLE response from Debra. She, not anyone else for that matter, were ever in the office so how exactly was I supposed to tell her that things were bad? I COULD NEVER FIND HER!
