I like these apartments, especially for the price. You can't move in and expect perfection... they were built in 1975! Things will wear and break at times. Also, you can complain about the mold all you want, but it's everywhere. Jacksonville has a very humid climate. I also feel like the crime rate is protrayed unfairly on here. Just have a little common sense... don't be distracted when you're getting in or out of your car, lock everything up, close the blinds when you leave, and don't display your valuables. Those are simple steps that you can take whether you live here or in Ponte Vedra. So, stop blaming the apartments. You're living in 2008. It's never safe.

That said, I don't like this neighborhood's CLOSE proximity to the Section 8 neighborhoods. I've seen some... unsavory actions... from those "income-restricted" people when they cross the fence into our neighborhood. However, I don't think these crimes are being committed by Charter Landing residents. I think it's from the neighborhood next door, where people have a lot more time on their hands. We don't get vouchers from the government to cover our living expenses; we have to work for them instead- so most of us don't have the time or energy (or reason) to rob people at gunpoint. That's not a stab at all people who rely on public assistance... it's just a healthy dose of truth for those who abuse the system to raise the crime rate.

The office staff here is pretty nice. I only deal with them a little at a time when I pay my rent/ pick up an air filter, but they've never been rude.

Maintenance is okay. I also think that people are a little unfair regarding maintenance on here. There are quite a few apartments in this complex, and only a few maintenance employees. That will not change any time soon, so learn patience. You may not get same-day service, but you know it will eventually be taken care of because the apartments don't want their own property to be damaged. If your personal belongings are a concern, GET RENTER'S INSURANCE! It will pay off in the long run.
