Good Evening,
I had a resident stop me this morning, and tell me about this site, and the posting of 2-4-07.
I was shocked to say the least of this former resident's comments. I am sorry you were asked to leave for hiding a pet in your apartment. (no pets) I am sorry your rent was late more than 4X in one year. (Yes I do expect the rent on time.) I am sorry your sister moved in with you, unauthorized, and not on the lease. (leaseholders only) I am sorry your last boyfriend would drive with his music so loud it shook the photos off the wall. However, I am not sorry for enforcing our rules.
In your opening statement you mentioned how quiet it is in the PM, and AM when you drove the property. How clean it looked. There is a reason for this, all residents
understand the rules of living here. I hid nothing when you came looking for an apartment. Even handed you 3 pages of what being a good neighbor is all about. We here at The Dunes are about RESPECT. Respect for each other, in our neighborhood.
Playground: Yes, I agree this could be better. The swings are new (Seats) and we upgraded a small climber wall last year. However, with the lawsuits in society, we have chosen not to have a slide. (Considering you mentioned in your article, and I quote, "I regret never pursuing a lawsuit against that place", surely shows me, you would have been a candiate for such behavior.) Police Athletic League(PAL) is in our backyard.
Seasonal decorations: Correct, none of us are allowed to decorate our apartments outside. (I wish we could) Reason: We then can not tell you when to take them down. Hence, you could have a resident want to keep them up all year long.
The "white window" look we require is for a clean building appearance.
I, being a 4 generation Jacksonville Native, and former Director of the Amelia Island-Fernandina Beach Chamber of Commerce, understand the "balance" between being Owners Representative for the property, and Customer Service to MY Residents. To offer the best accommodating services to my residents is what they deserve. I am running a business, and that is to KEEP my resident's.
Your maintenance work orders will be done within the hour, or for sure, within the close of the day you called it in. We are not maintenance deferrerd due to money or any reason.
In closing, I want to say I am the mindset, you can always know the staff at The Dunes is here to serve our resident's. Without them, none of us have a job! My resident's know each other, and know we do appreciate them for giving us the chance to complete their apartment living. Anyone can go rent 4 walls, it depends on how the property is managed which is the barometer for most.
If rules, and structure bother you, pay your rent late, or disrespectful to others needs for a quiet living atmosphere, THEN DO NOT MOVE HERE. As some of the previous letters have stated.. I do not play. But my resident's KNOW I truly care for them. They are why I am here.

You go Jan!!!!!!!!! I have lived in my home in Ohio for 15 years and therefore have not been accustomed to apt living for a very long time. My husband and I will be moving to FL this year from Ohio and will be renting an apartment down in Jacksonville. Your apartments sound like just the place we are looking to rent. I am so happy I came across comments from you on different web sites I've been on. I sent you an email last night and am looking forward to checking out your complex. Quality of living is everything and it sounds like Dunes Apts provides the quality we're looking for.

Jan do you really assume that everyone is stupid? I mean come on it is so obvious that you, or your staff and possibly your friends have commented positively here. Your writing style is on display in many of these postings. Phrases like "you can rent four walls anywhere" "i am the sheriff around here". Are you on some sort of power trip? Were you bullied as a child? Did daddy not give you enough hugs as a kid? You need therapy and have no business working in the private sector exposing yourself to customers. Yes that's right your renters are your customers, not your loyal subject or your peasants. Your no queen!
