My fiancee and I have lived here since June of 2006.

We live in the first building facing Southside, and we've never had any problems with crime or noise.

I have never heard a peep out of my neighbors other than the occasional car starting from the parking lot, so I don't know what the story is with people complaining about paper thin walls.

I didn't even realize that our next door neighbor had a dog until I saw her walking it.

The other plus is that this is pretty cheap rent for this area.

The problems: MAINTENANCE.

The appliances are old as dirt...our dishwasher doesn't wash dishes and our dryer doesn't dry clothes.

Our kitchen faucet has leaked since the day we moved in.

We used to call monthly and the maintenance guy would come out and tighten it, and it'd stop for literally 1 day before leaking again.

We just gave up and have gotten used to hearing it drip.

I'm typing to the sound of it dripping right now actually.

Our heater broke December of 2006 and would only allow 2 settings: 95 degrees, or off.

We called several times and it wasn't fixed until December of 2007 when it got cold again.

Literally.

All I have to say about management is that a friend of ours sent us a surprise engagement present in April and they didn't call us to tell us it was in their office until JULY.

We looked like jerks for not thanking our friend for the present until we explained that our property management is worthless.

Bottom line, this is a good place to live if you're on a tight budget.

It's quiet and cheap, but you get what you pay for.

If you or your roommate is handy and can handle minor maintenance issues on your own, like my fiancee, then it's great.
