Laurel Oaks Apartments

One of the most dangerous places to live in Jacksonville From: -Anonymous- Date posted: 10/16/2006 Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2006   I moved into these apartments in 2004 because it was what I could afford. It seemed reasonable at the time. Nothing special, but a place for myself and children to live. Since then, it has gone from ok, to bad, to absolutely terrible. In the past year I have had my sliding glass door shot out by a BB Gun, my apartment flooded by maitenence working upstairs, a concrete block thrown through my husbands windsheild. If you walk outside at any given time there are clusters of people sitting on the steps smoking weed. The lights get unswrewed on certain apartments because the drug dealers want to be able to run, because they are ALWAYS out there, especially when it's dark. There are always small drug bust and people getting pulled from cars to with their drugs to be arrested. Trash is always everywhere, not just a little, big bags of trash. My air conditioner was broken for 2 months and all they would do is come patch it up, then about 3 or 4 days later it would break again. My dishwasher has never worked, the toilet leaked on the back and was installed improperly, and they painted over my bathtub, so now there is paint peeling out of the bathtub everytime you get in there. There is also a big crack in the ceiling in the bathroom. If you call maitenence, you might see them in 3 or 4 days. The police are out there every other day. Not to mention the several times I had a gun shot off right in front of my apartment and walking out to find the shells from the bullets the next day. The staff is almost non existant, and they really don't care. It's a trashy environment with nothing but danger anywhere you are in there. There are groups of men that hang on every corner all day, and half the night. It is the slummiest apartment complex I have ever seen.The majority of people have no respect for anyone or themselves. If you move there, you might as well be signing a death warrant because taht's how bad they are.
