Mandarin-Don't be fooled!

Now that I have submitted my written notice of my intent to vacate Leigh Meadows, I can't help but reminisce about my 12 month tenancy and how I let Mandarin fool me. The best words I can use to describe Leigh Meadows is an "upscale ghetto". The apartment complex looks appealing. While everyone is at work and in school, the complex is peaceful and satisfactory to the eye. HOWEVER, come 2:30, it slowly evolves into this kid infested complex with lots of noise and nonsense. There are TONS of kids. Lots and lots of kids. I will say that it's common to see the parents supervising their children but that doesn't stop them from running in front of your car or playing in the breezeways. The apartment units are worth what you pay for them. My apartment is Ok, I wouldn't say it's bad but maintenance sucks. When the weather gets hottter, milllions of knats infest my apartment. Even when my apartment is at it's cleanest, they still show up. I will say that, knats, are the only insect I had to deal with. I rarely saw roaches or spiders like previous tenants have reported. They do a piss poor job repairing maintenance items within your home. I have a utility closet door that has fallen and cracked me in the head at least 5 times. A HUGE LIABILITY. Will they replace it' Of course not. On one occasion, maintenance stopped by to "inspect my unit." They showed up unexpectedly, and they were in there for 2 minutes. The closet door was propped up in the foyer, and NO ONE inquired as to why it was there. The nonsense continues when I describe the staff. I try'd to deal with them as little as possible because upon my first meeting, I knew it was all about drama. When applying for my apartment, I stumbled across a few of the staff members second occupation...STRIPPERS! And proud of it! I found out because they were talking about it in the damn office. Moving right along, the apartment complex is full of drug dealers. Drug dealers equals frequent police visits. Two months into my tenancy, some little girl was shot in her apartment. It's common to get a knock at your door in the middle of the night, only to be greeted by a police office responding to a "call". I guess it's a good thing they frequent Leigh Meadows because the parking lots are dark. There are TWO lights per building. And those lights aren't the best, because they're dirty and filled with bugs. Overall, my experience wasn't that bad. It was the place I called home but I definitely was fooled. I thought Mandarin was a nice place to live but it is so true: every city has it's bad spots. Even a nice section like Mandarin. If you can deal with load of kids, lots of ice cream trucks, police and fire trucks, knats, slow maintenance and section 8....then you'll love Leigh Meadows. PS. During my entire stay at this complex, none of the correspondences from the staff ever had the correct name. They were always addressed to the previous tenant. How prefessional is that' So should any staff members from Leigh Meadows read this review, just know it came from "Katrina Lee". Stop being lazy and update your databases! NONSENSE
